He’s a Super bet in the 4.20

Today’s Multi

3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble

Super Chief 4.20 @ 10/1

On The River 4.30 @ 5/1

Alpha Cru 7.15 @ 11/2

Selected Thirsk – good ground on this flat and galloping track . Speed track

2.20 Anjo Bonita stepped up well on her debut with a bold bid from the front here last time and kept going very well, which is encouraging for today’s extra furlong , and this is supported by her pedigree . Rose Of Ithaca ran well on debut but it was on polytrack.

1/4pt  win Anjo Bonita @ 5/1

3.30 A highly competitive Class 2 handicap but hard to ignore the claims of the clearly thriving Carnival Zain , who forced the Carlisle specialist Detective to pull out all the stops at the Cumbria track last time and just a pound higher . He’s tactically and track  versatile and an able apprentice takes a valuable looking 5 pounds off his back. Il Bandito is another highly reliable type, but has dropped his guard the last twice , but did have excuses , and worth splitting the stake at long odds .

1/4pt win Carnival Zain @ 13/2  ¼ pt ew Il Bandito @ 20/1 . 1/4pt  rev fc

4.00 No shortage of pace in this with all of the fav Cobra Kai , up again in the ratings and in trip , but not out of this , despite the wide draw, and both C&D winner Wheal Kitty and Bungley also sure to ger busy early . Do I Dream is likely to profit from how the race is run being a late player . She was a shock winner in the Ponty mud but backed that up with an unlucky looking 2nd at Ripon . Up another 4 pounds and off the track for 2 months , but hard to ignore the race make up .

1/4pt  win Do I Dream @ 7/1

4.30 This looks a match between recent Redcar winner Ravenglas, but the 5 pound hit looks excessive and recent C&d winner On The River , who took the bull by the horns in that race, practically making all . The 3 pound hit could have been worse and good chance of the double .

1/2pt  win On The River @ 5/1

5.05 A very open stayers’ handicap and looking at the odds , worth forgiving the usually reliable Hellenista a couple of lesser recent runs . and on previous form entitled to be bang there , at juicy odds .

1/4pt   ew Hellenista @ 12/1

Selected Newmarket – soft ground on this undulating , stiff and galloping track

2.00 The crucial variable is the soft ground and all of Makingitup , Senorita and Piastrella are all proven on he surface and the nod goes to the latter , A northern raider proven on this kind of track .

1/4pt  win Piastella @ 7/2

3.10 Looks a match but as recent winner Shigar has elements of soft ground blood in him , is preferred over Yantarini , who makes a return from an 8 months break and so far only having raced on the all weather. Not an ideal  preparation for soft turf .

1/2pt  win Shigar @ 11/8

4.20 The admirably prolific Simply Sondheim comes here on a 6 timer , and is a soft ground winner , but was all out to prevail that day , and that came off a 9 pound lower mark ! As Savrola has stamina doubts , well worth a play on the well related Super Chief, who wears famous colours for The Gosdens , stays the trip , on a fair mark and plenty of soft ground influences in the pedigree .

1/2pt  win Super Chief @ 10/1

Selected Ffos Las on this flat and galloping track

1.35 Singing The Blues was victorious here recently over a slightly shorter trip with Tralee Hills and Olympic Honour not far behind . At the revised weights the latter gets the nod , as he’s a C&D winner off this mark.

1/4pt win Olympic Honour @ 7/2

4.57 This has a winnable look to it and despite being 4 pounds higher for a confidence restoring win on the all weather ,  Lexington Knight is still well enough handicapped on turf to go close.

1/4pt  ew Lexington Knight @ 8/1

Selected Goodwood – soft ground on this undulating, sharp and tricky track

5.35 Plenty of well bred and expensive juveniles racing in famous colours for top stables. The nod goes to £235,000 colt The Parent after a tidy debut and plenty of soft ground blood .

1/4pt  win The Parent @ 10/3

7.15 The prominent racing Just Amber goes for the hat-trick , but has to contend with both a a massive 8 pound hit and softer ground .Alpha Cru is another prominent racer , who took advantage of a declining mark to land a small field handicap last time, but did beat an odds on shot . Mark is still manageable and soft ground fine . Canoodle is rarely far away but this late player is hard to win with ,

1/2pt  win Alpha Cru @ 11/2

7.45 The admirable Pettochside , one of the oldest flat horses still racing , now a 13yo and has his mark , ground and C&D in his favour , but not so returning from a break, making the consistent Gherkin , on a manageable mark and a soft ground winner , a solid looking fav.

1/2pt  win Gherkin @ 6/4

Selected Hamilton – good to soft on this undulating , stiff and galloping track

5.10 Royal Athena and Venetian  bring a similar level of form to the table , but the latter is proven on turf and this stiff C&d likely to suit .

1/2pt win Ventian @ 7/4

5.43 Shine On Brendan had an unenviable record of 0 from 26, but it all clicked over this C&D , and since then has won 3 more times in 5 tries , often the case with long standing maidens when they finally get that elusive win . He comes here on the back of  a cracking effort in a good contest at Donny when 6th of 13 and that form stands up much better than clear chief rival Breckland.

1/2pt win Shine on Brendan @ 13/8

6.18 No shortage of early pace in this and I’m actually sticking with one of the prominent racers in Rainbow Colours , who’s on a workable mark and sees the trip out very well . Latest run could have been better , but that’s his only blip of late .

1/4pt  ew Rainbow Colours @ 8/1

7.23 The ultra consistent Clan Jock holds a recent course decision over Ralphy Boy Two , and as he’s better off at the weights, looks very much the solution to this modest heat .

1/2pt  win Clan Jock @ 2/1
