Annie to bring in the (War) bucks in the 3.40

Annie Maher 3.40 @ 6/1

Bonnie 6.15 @ 16/1

Carey Street 8.15 @ 16/1

Selected Southwell – all weather – tapeta

1.20 Mr Trevor merits respect as this C&D winner is 4 pounds higher , but a smart 7 pound claimer takes the reins , who’s won aboard him before , but he goes up in grade and also has had a longer break than usual . The capable Full Intention responded well to the ease in the ratings last time out with a close 4th at Lingfield , and this strong finisher has form on tapeta .

1/4pt  ew  Full Intention @ 8/1

1.55 Both the in form Finery and Hiromichi like to dominate , but both are now on testing marks and could be chasing shadows behind another front runner in Nat Love , who has run very well in both of his starts for Ivan Furtado . Proven on the surface and trip and on a good mark .

1/4pt  ew  Nat Love @ 14/1

3.05 the reliable Twilght Secret holds his form well , despite frequent nudges up the ratings . A strong pace will be needed for this strong stayer to be competitive over this easy C&D, and that is entirely possible .

1/4pt  ew  Twilight Secret @ 8/1

3.40 The Godolphin juvenile Banddar makes little appeal  down in trip and switching to synthetics . The consistent Annie Maher is proven at the trip and plenty of optimism in the pedigree for the switch to tapeta. The stable think a lot of her , and she’s going take off soon . Could be today .

1/2pt ew  Annie Maher @ 6/1

4.15 This won’t take a great deal of winning and the capable Lipsink has a fine chance of dominating from flagfall , and was recently a close 2nd off this mark over C&D .

1/4pt win Lipsink @ 9/2

Selected Carlisle – good ground on this undulating , galloping and stiff track

3.20 Good to see the willing veteran Tonto’s Spirit back in the Winners’ Circle after a typically tenacious win at Cartmel, but an 8 pound hit and a switch away from his beloved best track makes the double unlikely . In a winnable heat , the consistent C&D winner Croagh Patrick is preferred .

1/4pt win Croagh Patrick @ 3/1

Selected Ludlow – good to firm on this flat and sharp track

No wonder the BHA are cancelling 170 meetings next season in an attempt to have larger , more competitive fields, unlike here today .

4.40 An early mistake didn’t help Finalshot last time and he remains just 2 pounds higher than his previous race win , which could be good enough in a winnable heat .

1/4pt win Finalshot @ 4/1

5.15 Fine By Me made a bold attempt to lead all the way at Perth at this trip last time , but was picked up close home. Up 4 pounds but his form is much stronger than the other last time winner Fenney Brook .

1/2pt win Fine By Me @ 5/4

Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta

6.15 It’s very clear that Bonnsie is far more at home on synthetics than on turf as in 8 carer runs, is 2 wins and a place from just 3 runs on artificial surfaces while on turf has just 1 place from 5 tries . Two runs back she landed  a Kempton nursery at this trip , beating reliable yardsticks , and just a pound higher . She’s yet to sample tapeta and the pedigree is inconclusive , but certainly worth a try  at long odds . Well drawn , the 5 pound claimer rode him to victory last time and not many of these count .

1/2pt  ew  Bonnsie @ 16/1

7.15 Despite being on a tough enough mark , Bergerac remains the one to beat against rivals wither just not cutting the mustard of late , or in the cases of the useful and admirable fillies Tippy Toes and Princess Shabnam , on very testing marks .

1/4pt  win Bergerac @ 9/4

7.45 Overnight Oats was a most unlucky loser over C&D last time , as he almost lost his jockey at the start , lost valuable ground ,but still came home strongly to be 2nd to Betweenthesticks, who was rattling off a sequence and won next time under a 7 pound penalty . The tip is up 2 pounds but is well drawn and is at an advantage with so much early pace on , he can sit , wait and win ?

1/2pt win Overnight Oats @ 11/4

8.15 The short priced fav is recent course winner Holocene, who races in famous colours and for a top stable  her first try on tapeta  and won with ease, but it wasn’t the greatest race ever , and could be troubled by the 6 pound hit , she has a wide draw  but the longer trip is in her favour . Carey Street is very much a track regular and when last seen over C&D was a close 2nd . He had a wide draw that day , and has suffered the same fate tonight , but again there’s not a great deal of early pace inside of him , so again should get an ideal handy pitch . He resumes duties after a 2 months break , his ideal break interval and should give another big run at long odds .

1/2pt  ew  Carey Street @ 16/1
