Selected Newbury – probably good to soft on this flat and galloping track

1.00PREMIUM RACE

1.35 PREMIUM RACE

2.10 There was nothing wrong at all with the debut run of John Chard VC which came over C&D on similar ground and looks an ew bet for nothing taking on the odds on fav in Mysterious Night , who was 2nd here on debut but over a shorter trip on good ground .

1/2pt  ew  John Chard VC @ 5/1

3.10 With the exception of the exposed Yummylicious, who will run her race but very likely to come up short , the others are open to any amount of improvement but the even money quotes about Golden Lyra , who is 1 from 1 , hardly enticing as her basic form puts her behind a number of these . Stay Alert ran a cracker last time in a Class 1 over C&D last time , coming off the pace to split a couple of good yardsticks and as the clear form horse gets the nod .

1/4pt  win Stay Well @ 10/3

3.40 I would much rather just watch the fav , the consistent but luckless Bearaway switching to soft turf from the all weather and is 2 pounds higher for his decent 3rd at Kempton last time . Love Dreams comes into this on the back of two good runs at Windsor , but would need the ground to dry out . Dandy Maestro pulverized the field over C&D , and went on to record another wide margin win at Bath , both times coming off the pace , but was then hit with a 16 pound penalty , but carried it very well to be beaten just a half length at Yarmouth , in a steadily run race.  There are a couple of front runners in this which should enable him to sit off the pace and use his telling turn of foot .

1/2pt  win Dandy Maestro @ 4/1

4.50 Al Azhar was held off this mark last time and today goes up in trip and tries soft ground , so too many things to prove for me . Rendition was a good 3rd at Redcar last time on easy ground , that run putting her on a workable mark and the longer trip too looks to be in her favour .

1/4pt win Rendition @ 9/2

Selected Yarmouth – probably good to soft on this flat and galloping track

1.50 It’s very hard fancying many here in terms of the form they bring to the table . The most reliable Is Tilsworth Ony Ta, who like all of these , have yet to win , but at least he’s gone a lot closer to winning than anything else and this should be his day , under a prominent ride .

1/2pt  win Tilsworth Ony Ta @ 4/1

2.50 Henry The Fifth is just a pound higher than his win last time which came over C&D and on this kind of ground . Has to go close again , despite Fred Bear and Harry The horseman likely to offer stiff opposition and Tinchoo not out of it .

1/4pt  win Henry The fifth @ 7/2

3.50 Australian Harbour did well last time out when 2nd at Nottingham in his first handicap and off the same mark with an in form 3 pound claimer aboard can overcome slight concerns regarding trip and going .

1/4pt win Australian Harbour @ 7/2

5.00 Despite still being on a stiff enough mark , Bonus is holding his form well and soft ground a positive . Moonlit Cloud has been given a chance by the handicapper and this front runner wasn’t beaten far over C&D on similar ground last season off a higher mark and in a better race .

4.00 A distinct lack of early pace is very good news for the in form Somewhere Secret , who’s hit the frame in his last two races and up the favoured stands rails , could be hard to peg back .

1/2pt win Somewhere Secret @ 9/2

4.35 Plenty of these 3yos are improving with experience but I’ve been with the consistent Thunder Queen a number of times of late and she continues to shape like a winner about to happen .

4.55 PREMIUM RACE

5.55 Plenty of these : Miss Nay Never, Fox hill , albegone  and Burj Malink are on stiff enough marks , but one runner who has responded well to the drop in the ratings is Good Luck Fox, placed in his last two and will have the ground in his favour and looks a very attractive ew play in a race where few others set the pulses racing .

1/2pt   ew  Good Luck Fox @ 9/1

6.55 This is full of in form young sprinters and all of : Silky White, Mr Beaufort , So Smart and Gabriella’s Spirit tick plenty of important boxes but so does the well handicapped May Blossom , a close 3rd behind elegant Erin last time out under this 7 pound claimer and the winner has gone in since under a stiff penalty , and the return to softer ground also in her favour .

1/4pt  ew  May Blossom @ 11/1

7.25 Fame and Acclaim doesn’t win many but comes here on the back of two big runs off his much reduced mark . Tactically and ground versatile and can land an uncompetitive heat .

1/4pt win Fame And Acclaim @ 9/2

Selected Uttoxeter – good ground on this mostly sharp and undulating track with a long, galloping straight .

5.35 PREMIUM RACE

6.05 You can’t set your clock by Morganstern but he was on his best behaviour last time out with a clear win  at Newton Abbot , but doubts about him doubling up with a stiff 7 pound hit and going up markedly in trip . Butler’s Brief is a reliable sort who goes well here but was pulled up in his only previous chase . Decoration of War was a very easy winner over hurdles at this C&D in the Autumn and plenty to like about his recent comeback spin  in his first try over fences at Bangor where he ran well for a long way despite the ground being too soft and trip too short and nice odds to land this .

1/4pt  win Decoration Of War @ 4/1

6.35 Flamboyant Joyaux simply must have good ground and after landing a double last Autumn , then expectedly ran poorly in a couple of soft ground chases . He ran a cracker last time at Kelso , back on his last winning mark, when starting very slowly , losing a pile of ground , but willingly got back in the race , only going down narrowly . He stays on the same mark and is very much a winner about to happen , and with the opposition with plenty to prove for various reasons, compensation looks on .

3/4pt  win Flamboyant Joyaux @ 10/3

7.35 A big field handicap hurdle and the likes of Holerday Ridge and Into The sunset bring plenty to the table after good runs las time , but there are a host of unexposed types who can no show their paces now handicapping . Norman Kindu won on good ground on the flat off a mark of 68 , which equates to around  97 over hurdles and as he won over 1 mile 6 furlongs on  the flat , this trip of 2 and a half miles should fit like a glove . He hasn’t pulled up any trees in his three tries over hurdles , but they were in novice events over the minimum trip , so he was unlikely to feature . He goes handicapping off a lowly mark of just 80 and a very close and dear friend of mine is one of the owners and the good stable is hopeful of a good run , and that has been mirrored in the market . He was 14/1 yesterday , now just 11/2 !

1/2pt  win Norman Kindu @ 11/2

8.05 Rare Clouds responded well to the combination of this trip and ground with a long odds , clear win at Southwell and under just a 4 pound penalty , looks a very nice ew play .

1/4pt  ew Rare Clouds @ 9/1
