Foxy Rascal could brush them off in the 4,35 at long odds

Broken Quest 1.50 @ 6/1

Giovanni Change 3.00 @ 11/2

Dapper Man 6.15 @ 10/3

Selected Chester – good to soft on this flat and sharp track where prominent racers and a low draw can be seen as advantages . Persistent rain is expected from mid afternoon so going likely to deteriorate in the later races .

1.30 You’d do very well getting off to a winning start in a highly competitive opener but the likeable and consistent Amber Island is the first for the red pen as she’s a hefty 7 pounds higher for her latest win which came on her preferred all weather – surface , has the worst of the draw and unlikely to appreciate the soft ground . A case can be made for practically all of the rest but I’m with the C&D specialist in Fools Rush In , who was successful first time out last season and ended a fine campaign , 4 wins from 9 tries , with a close 2nd in the Musselburgh mud off this mark . He was very impressive when winning here in August when this usual prominent racer missed the kick, but somehow gave them all a start and a beating , with two other C&D regulars in Revich and Boardman close up and on today’s weights , little to separate them again , but as the tip is far more potent when racing with the pace , is well drawn and has recently joined Hugo Palmer’s stable , as many have from Tom Dascombe’s stable on the dissolution of his partnership with Michael Owen , and many have improved for the run .

¼ pt   ew  Fools Rush In @ 13/2

2.05 Mujtafa took a record of 3 from 3 into The Lincoln , but could only manage mid div and the longer trip unlikely to help . A strong pace is likely with the capable Lord Protector and no hoper Bakersboy sure to set a good pace but neither are likely to last all the way. Both Skycutter and Baryshnikov landed soft ground handicaps last time , but the latter’s win at Ponty was particular impressive , coming off the pace to beat Pride Of America , who sluiced in yesterday here by a long looking 5 lengths . The tip is 2 from 3 here and despite the stiff 5 pound hit , is preferred in a winnable race .

½ pt  win Baryshnikov@ 3/1

2.40 Only 4 go and despite Certain Lad being a useful type, he has a chunk to find against the other three , who are very closely matched at the ratings and also returns from 18 months inactivity . the other three are rated almost identically and all three like to race prominently and all handle soft ground , but preference is for the strong front running Majestic Dawn , who loves soft ground and of the trio is just about the fav to  get his own way up front , and stay there .

½ pt  win Majestic Dawn @ 4/1

3.15 PREMIUM RACE

3.45 Kings Lynn was a massive improver last season and as he came to hand early , is potent on soft ground and at this trip, looks good to pick these up late in a suitable strongly run  race .

½ pt Win Kings Lynn @ 6/4

4.20 PREMIUM RACE

4.55 Another highly competitive handicap, similar to the first race as so many can be considered but the well drawn Hydroplane was a good 3rd in this last year and stays on the same mark . Jim Crowley is an eye catching jockey booking and any deterioration in the going is very much in favour of this mud loving strong staying hurdler .

¼ pt  win Hydroplane @ 9/2

Selected Market Rasen – good ground on this mostly flat and sharp track

1.50 I’d rather just watch the consistent Royal Pretender going chasing for the first time but the prolific Railway Muice can’t be ruled out despite the stiff penalty and rise in grade as he’s 2 from 2 here and has the ground very much in his favour . Broken Quest comes here on a hat-trick and is the likely front runner, which will certainly suit this strong stayer . He’s 6 pounds higher for a smart win last time but is still only 2 pound higher than  his career best win last season . This kind of C&D suits , as does the drying ground and Jack Andrews has ridden him very well the last twice .

1/2pt win Broken quest @ 6/1

3.00 It’s funny how a horse can suddenly lose it’s form for no apparent reason , except for maybe being over raced , Giovanni Change landed a double over C&D last year , doing it very well and then pulled out all the stops to be narrowly denied in a hot handicap at Aintree off a much higher mark, showing incredible resolution, and returned to this C&D off an 8 pound higher mark than today , with  another bold effort to be 3rd , but then some lesser efforts crept in but after a lengthy break ,put in an encouraging effort on the flat . He’s the likely front runner and with the ground in his favour around his favourite track , could take some catching.

½ pt  win Giovanni Change @ 11/2

3.35 PREMIUM RACE

4.10 This will take little winning , trip on the short side for Seemingly So and Le Tueur which ,makes the well handicapped Caro Des flos a good ew play at least , ground and C&D in his favour .

Selected Ascot – probably good on this stiff and galloping track

2.15 The admirably prolific Super Superjack has proved that he’s not just a Bath specialist and out in a customary determined effort last time to win at Goodwood , but with a 5 pound penalty a negative  , it could pay to be with the luckless Ernesto rarely far away and landed a few wins over hurdles last season . He’s a strong stayer , so this could be his day .

1/2 pt  win Ernesto @ 6/1

4.00 the consistent Saga, a win and 3 seconds from just 4 tries is now on a stiff looking mark and wont have much peace up front in a race full of early pacers . Alfaila runs in famous colours and was tried in some hot company at the end of last season . He’s a late player and looks a very lively longshot with a number of these plenty to prove.

½ pt   ew  Alfaila @ 16/1

4.35 Just the 18 in this competitive 3yo sprint and looking at the racing styles , there is early pace all across the track , so the draw shouldn’t be an issue . Foxy Rascal can be relied upon to run her race and did well on her recent comeback spin when 2nd at Yarmouth . Her win came at Newcastle so both this stiffer track and the slightly slower ground , both in her favour . Lovely longshot

½ pt   ew  Foxy Rascal @ 25/1

5.10 There was plenty of money about for Many a star last time , and those in the know only just failed to collect . No penalty and an able 7 pound claimer takes over , and not many in this with a shout .

Selected Nottingham – good ground on this flat and galloping track

5.35 The penalty wont help Helvetian at all while Toptime has a double whammy with a stiff penalty and a switching from soft ground . Vape backed up a good win on easy ground at Windsor with a gutsy 2nd at Chepstow but onthis speed track, preference is for the consistent Rabat , 2nd at Donny in higher grade at this trip and on quick ground , and she can finally break her duck with a deserved win , 2nd 5 times .

½ pt   win Rabat @ 4/1

6.40 The fav is the hat-trick chasing Phantasy Mac , but not for me as he was all out to win last time and besides a penalty , goes up in trip and switches from the all weather . Jalea Moon was a surprise winner last time at this trip at Yarmouth , but in fairness hasn’t had many chances and it looked quite a good race . Sylvia Beach was only half a length behind but as she’s partnered by a very able 7 pound claimer tonight , should get revenge and take the race

½ pt  win Sylvia Beach @ 5/1

Selected Ripon good ground on this undulating but sharp track

515 The Riddler was active in the market on his debut over C&d and is taken to get the better of Favourite Queen , who possibly ran to a higher level, but I tend to leave Brighton form for Brighton .

¼ pt  win The Riddler @ 9/4

6.15 This will take little winning and good opportunity for the in form Dapper Man to make all over a C&d he’s won over twice before .

½ pt win Dapper Man @ 10/3

6.45 PREMIUM RACE

7.15 Evaluation sluiced in on his first state for Keith Dalglish just a few days ago and the way he won, could well be up to the 5 pound hit but a chance can be given to all of : the bold front running Spantik , Kittens Dream and Hellenista can be given chances but Rukwa was just outstayed in a Ponty marathon and this less exacting task should suit .

¼ pt ew  Rukwa @ 8/1

8.15 The front running Autumn festival has done little wrong since being switched to turf , 2 wins and a 2nd , and is only 2 pounds higher for a determined narrow success at Beverley , and the 2nd horse has won since . Well drawn and the return to this trip well in his favour . Golden sands was breathing down the tip’s neck in that race , but from the worst of the draw tonight and the usual hood missing , preference for the tip.

5.26 The drop in trip  is unlikely to help 1 win in 34 Parikrama and preference is for the well handicapped 10 times track winner Street Poet and hasn’t had the rub of the green at all in his last few runs , and this will take little winning .

¼ pt win Street Poet @ 9/2
