3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Pic D’Orhy 3.30 @ 3/1
Beat The Edge 3.55 @ 6/1
Emperor Caradoc 4.55 @ 4/1
Selected Leicester – heavy ground on this stiff and galloping track
Small fields equals small odds and on heavy ground , hard to recommend much . Just one worthwhile play .
4.55 Emperor Caradoc always runs his race and won’t fear the deep ground or the stiff track . He went well fresh last season and despite his present mark being on the high side , his ability to handle the ground is the key variable .
1/2pt win Emperor Caradoc @ 4/1
Aintree – good to soft on this flat and galloping track
1.45 This looks a match between the Irish trained pair of Bronn and Gerri Colombe , who crossed swords at Cheltenham where Gerri Colombe lost his unbeaten record finishing a close 2nd , with Bronn 4 lengths back in 3rd but on less demanding ground and on this speed track , the tip could have too much pace .
1/4pt win Bronn @ 4/1

3.30 Fakir d’Oudaries has won this race very well for the last two years but below form this year and was way behind Pic D’Orhy at Ascot when both trailed in the wake of the back to form Shishkin . Pic D’Orhy has a big chance at the ratings and looks a tidy bet at the odds .
1/2pt win Pic D’Orhy @ 3/1

5.15 Any number with a good shout in this big field handicap hurdle , but I’m splitting my stake on a pair of prolific and consistent types . The front running Knickerbockerglory showed last time that switching back to hurdles was no issue with a gallant 2nd in the Sandown mud , and only up a pound . Soul Icon comes here with a record of 7 wins and a 2nd in his last 8 runs ! He’s 10 pounds higher than his last win , but it was another easy success, beating 14 others at Cheltenham . He will need the ground to dry out .
1/4pt ew each – Knickerbockerglory @ 11/1 Soul Icon @ 16/1 – small rev fc ??
Selected Sedgefield – soft ground on this undulating and sharp track
2.45 After some very tame runs , Road Warrior bounced back to form with an all the way win in the Newcastle mud , but did have an easy time up front and at times had to be rousted along . He still doesn’t convince me he’s back to his decent best and the 7 pound hit is a further concern . Mister Bells had been running Ok and landed a soft ground Market Rasen handicap last time , and the 4 pound hit looks manageable .
1/4pt win Mister Bells @ 11/2
3.55 Beat The Edge gained reward for consistent efforts with a soft ground win at Wetherby when dropped to this trip , coming off the pace strongly . This isn’t deep and could well double up with a 4 pound penalty in a modest heat .
1/2pt win Beat The Edge @ 6/1
4.30 Last year’s winner Great Raffles holds his form well despite now being on a higher mark and is taken this open affair .
1/4pt win Great Raffles @ 7/2
Selected Dundalk – all weather – polytrack
6.10 Dark Street is a consistent regular over C&D and comes here on the back of a very solid 2nd over C&D behind comfortable winner Emeric , but with a massive 8 pound pull for the two lengths , this late player looks very solid ew in a race where it’s hard finding dangers .
1/2pt ew Dark Street @ 7/1
7.40 The lightly raced , late playing Memorial Verse has finished close up in her last two races over C&D and from the plot draw, this could be her night .
1/4pt win Memorial Verse @ 9/2
Selected Southwell – all weather – tapeta
5.30 The longer trip is the issue for both the admirably consistent Haven Lady and Ward Castle who fought out a finish here last time over 2 furlongs shorter , while the hard to win with Billy Bathgate has been pushed up a cruel 2 pounds for his good 2nd over C&D last time . Smokey Malone is rarely far away , and comes here on the back of a 1 length 2nd at Chelmsford City , and no problem with the switch to tapeta .
1/2pt ew Smokey Malone @ 8/1
6.00 Not a deep race and worth sticking with recent Wolver winner H Key Lails and double could be on despite the 4 pound hit .
1/4pt win H Key Lails @ 11/4
6.30 A good quality Class 3 handicap for fillies and a case can be made for most but interesting that after winning on debut , Inaana was aimed at Listed and Group company for all three subsequent runs . Could have been let in lightly on her handicap debut .
1/4pt win Inaana @ 8/1
7.00 It is said that God loves a trier so he could smile upon the consistent and luckless How Bizarre , as this prominent racer has been narrowly beaten a few times of late over C&D , and in a winnable race , could be his day .
1/4pt win How Bizarre @ 5/1
8.30 Bobby Joe Legg has been holding his form well since being nudged up the ratings and hasn’t been far away over C&D in his last two runs . The pound ease in the ratings could be crucial .
1/2pt win Bobby Joe Legg @ 6/1
