Talk about a smart winner – GABoriot 3.20

Today’s Multi

3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble

White rhino 1.10 @ 7/1

Gaboriot 3.20 @ 13/8

Show Compassion 4.30 @ 3/1

Selected Donny – probably good ground on this flat and galloping track

1.00Nothing really stands out but the consistent Gone In Sixty is likely to be bang there again , but winning remains the issue . Doubling him with a similar type in the Newcastle opener , Isle Of Wolves.

1/4pt  ew double Gone In Sixty @ 4/1  Isle of Wolves @ 6/1

1.35 The short priced fav Inqui Machin is one of a number making their hurdles debut , and does bring useful bumper form to the table , but his best effort came at the stiff Chepstow while his run at a speed track was only average . Samazul is another making his hurdles debut and with good bumper form , and has good form on a speed track .

1/4pt  win Samazul @ 7/2

2.45 PREMIUM RACE

3.20 An uncompetitive heat and the clear form horse is recent good ground Kempton winner Gaboriot , just 3 pounds higher .

1/2pt  win Gaboriot @ 13/8

3.53 This is more about quantity than quality and the drying ground and this C&D may well not play into the hooves of the prolific Zwicky , who is partnered by a struggling jockey in this race for conditionals. Well Vicky went 3 from 3 in handicaps last season , and it’s unsure whether her new mark is beyond her .

1/4pt  win Where’s Vicky @ 5/1

Selected Cheltenham – good to soft on this undulating , stiff and galloping track

1.15 It remains uncertain how good the prolific White Rhino is , as he won his first handicap off a very lowly 74, and has won 3 of his next 4 , unlucky not to be unbeaten as a handicapper . He turned his comeback spin into a rout in the Carlisle mud , so should have no problems with today’s C&D or ground . He is a massive 9 pounds higher but it is quite easy picking holes in the chances of his rivals.

1/2pt win White Rhino @ 7/1

1.45 The admirably consistent Triple Trade finished strongly last time to be a close 2nd over C&D and today’s slower ground will help , but the nod goes to the useful , tough and genuine Calico who showed vast improvement last season culminating in a great effort in a Grade 1 . Won’t fail for lack of effort

1/4pt  win Calico @ 6/1

2.20 3 races in 2 years worries me about recent smart winner JPR One , who does have it do on official ratings anyway . Irish raider Mighty Tom brings very useful form to the table and both the C&D and ground are in his favour .

1/2pt  win Mighty Tom @ 15/8

2.55 Galvin and Delta Hero fought out a titanic finish over C&D at The Cheltenham Festival, with the latter just staying the better . Today’s race is a handicap, so the rest of the field are entitled to get much closer , including of course Back On The Lash , winner of this for the last two years , but I expect class to prevail and as the tip is partnered by an excellent 7 pound claimer , gets the nod .

1/2pt  win Galvin @ 10/3

Selected Newcastle – all weather – tapeta . The track is stiff and galloping

Sorry , time for selections only

Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta

4.30 There’s a question mark regarding the hat-trick seeking Henery Hawk at this longer trip , despite Linda Perret’s recent excellent record at the track . This isn’t a deep race and as recent C&D winner Show Compassion is just 2 pounds higher and in a race for apprentices has the services of fully fledged jockey Billy Loughnane .

1/2pt  win Show Compassion @ 3/1

5.00 Recent C&D winner Guiteau had the run of the race up front when winning but the 4 pound hit will test despite a good draw. Another recent C&D winner is Connected , but off his new mark and from the worst of the draw makes scant appeal . Once Adaay comes here on the back of a fine 3rd at Kempton . Despite a wide draw , this course winner gets the nod off a reduced mark .

1/4pt  win Once Adaay @ 5/1

6.00 A very tricky nursery but the well drawn Squeaker went down by just a short head in a recent C&D maiden , putting her on a workable mark .

1/4pt  win Squeaker @ 13/2

6.30 PREMIUM RACE

7.30 The dual C&D winner Phantasy Mac showed a bit more like it last time off his much reduced mark . Down a further 2 pounds , and this isn’t deep.

1/4pt  win Phantasy Mac @ 5/1
