Chookie looks good in the opener

Today’s Multi

3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble

Chookie Dunedin 1.30 @ 7/4

Go Fox 3.00 @ 4/1

Fristel 1.40 @ 7/1

Selected Catterick – good to firm on this undulating and sharp track

1.30 Only 3 of these matter and as both C&d winners Parys Mountain and Langholm are now on stiff marks and both intent on running the finish  out of the field , which is unlikely with the pair going hammer and tongs from flagfall , the late  player Chookie Dunedin is proven over C&D , quick ground , on a workable mark , and looks very good to pick up the pieces when the race falls apart .

¾ pt  win Chookie Dunedin @ 7/4

3.00 This will take little winning and the market revolves around the in form pair of Haven Lady , but as she switches from the all weather , clear preference is for recent Ok Thirsk 4th in Go Fox, a winning hurdler off a mark of around 110, which is 77 on the flat and a clear chance of landing this modest handicap off a mark of just 57 .

½ pt  win Go Fox @ 4/1

Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta

1.40 A chance can be given to many in this handicap sprint , but good reasons being with Fristel . He has run well in two turf sprints and as he’s proven over C&D , better can be expected under optimum conditions . He’s a late player and the draw could have been kinder , but on a very workable mark, looks a very nice ew play .

½ pt   ew  Fristel @ 7/1

2.40 I tipped up You’re Cool when he won on Thursday at 16/1 , but this is a far deeper race and with a penalty is  ruled out . The early pace will come from the best drawn pair in Grandfather Tom and Qaarat , but the former remains too high in the ratings , while the latter , will again  run his race , but likely to fold also off this stiff mark . It’s impossible to knock the consistent Dark Side Prince , who wont be far away despite remaining on a stiff mark . Street Life notched a hat-trick last season , one of those wins coming over C&D and was also narrowly denied , again over C&D off his new loft mark , but came to hand early last year , so another big run expected . I’m with a longshot In this very open race in the well handicapped dual C&D winner Secretfact , 7 pounds lower than his last win and his latest run was quite encouraging .

¼ pt   ew  Secretfact @ 18/1

4.10 A vey close and dear friend of mine , Suzanne , is one of the owners of the long standing maiden Babe Alicious , who shaped up pretty well on her first start for Mike Appleby over C&D and from a better draw and that run under her belt , could be celebration time .

¼ pt  ew Babe Alicious @ 9/1

Been through the Musselburgh card with my usual thorough approach but all the races are full of ifs , buts and maybes and happy to swerve the meeting , especially with rain forecast .

Selected Windsor – good to firm on this flat and galloping track – speed track

5.05 Curtiz returns to action after a 7 months break on a stiff mark and this prolific type’s best form is over a 2 furlongs shorter trip . No shortage of early pace as both triple C&D winner Lawn Ranger and the admirably consistent Carp Kid , both sure to get busy early . The latter is so consistent , the handicapper continues to nudge him up and as Lawn Ranger has superior all round speed is taken to dispute and stay the best .

¼ pt  win Lawn Ranger @ 7/2

5.40 The Johnston stable is renowned for getting their  juveniles ready first time out and already have a number of 2yo winners this season . Madam Macho is particularly interesting for them as she cost a cool £220,000 and Ryan Moore is booked to ride , but does take on a couple with good form in debut winner Katey Kontent and Radio Goo Goo, who’s run to a decent level in both tries and gets the nod with good experience on speed tracks .

¼ pt win Radio Goo Goo @ 2/1

7.10 The consistent Fozzie Bear is rarely far away and is starting to receive some wel come help from the handicapper . No issues with this kind of C&D or ground .

¼ pt   ew  Fozzie Bear @ 13/2

Selected Southwell – good ground on this flat and sharp track

5.20 Steady The ship stepped up on previous with a fine win over C&D in his first chase with the consistent but very hard to win with diamond Rose just 2 lengths behind and certainly entitled to gain revenge but is a pushover in the finish . The ultra consistent Ar west is worth a try at this trip and gets the nod . Capricia is well handicapped but unlikely to have the pace dropping in trip on this speed track .

¼ pt  win Ar West @ 4/1

5.50 No shortage of early pace in this which would ordinarily put me off being with one of the pacesetters , but the very well handicapped Rocky’s Treasure , showed a lot more like it last time and if securing that all important early lead , could take some pegging back.

¼ pt  ew  Rocky’s Treasure @ 8/1
