Billian 5.10 @ 5/1

Noble Captain 5.40 @ 4/1

Selected Windsor – very soft ground on this flat and galloping track

1.25 It’s understandable that the in form Cherryhawk is a warm order in this race for amateur riders and besides her very relevant recent form, a half length 2nd over C&D in the mud off this mark , is partnered by top amateur Simon Walker , but 6/5 too short for me for a maiden of 8 tries. The trip could be too short for another form horse in Ship To Shore but the likes of Fair Dinkum . Parikarma and Scotch Mist have bits of form to make them of interest . Das Kapital has the ground in his favour , but this rare winner comes here in poor form.

1.55 Solar Acclaim brings easily the best form to the table and proven in the mud. He drops in trip and switches from a stiff track , but still hard to see this 1/4 shot being turned over .

NO Bet

2.55 Korker is a very useful handicap sprinter , rated an accurate 102, and comes here in top form , a cracking 2nd at Ascot on good ground in a Listed race and before that a 5 lengths demolition job in the Beverley mud , where he looked in trouble at half way but the combination of soft ground and a stiff track , suited him by far the best , but this benign track may well not suit . Spoof comes here on the back of two big runs on very soft ground , landing a competitive small field handicap last time , and this prominent racer can overcome the 3 pound hit .

1/2pt win Spoof @ 5/1

Selected Plumpton – good to soft on this gently undulating and sharp track

2.15 Better was expected from the former useful German flat horse Western Soldier on hurdles debut at Sedgefield , going down narrowly in a 3 horse finish , but today’s softer ground likely to see an improved run .

1/2pt  win Western Soldier @ 6/5

3.45 A good quality Class 3 chase and the nod in an open race goes to the usually front running course specialist in Lord Baddesley , who has a good record running fresh and could take some catching. In The Air and Sacre Coeur will offer the sternest opposition .

1/4pt  win Lord Baddesley @ 4/1

Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta

3.35 The switch to tapeta and this trip saw a much improved run by The Caltonian at Newcastle , winning by a very comfortable 5 lengths , He’s 5 pounds higher , up in grade and switches to more of a speed track , but very much unexposed on this surface , but 6/5 too short for me .

No Bet

5.10 He’s An Angel has been seriously knocking at the door , but remains a maiden and preference is for the late playing and in form Billian , , who runs this C&D well.

1/4pt  win Billian @ 5/1

5.40 This looks very much for the taking and an overdue and deserved win can come to Noble Captain, 3 times recently narrowly defeated on this surface and around this mark . Good chance for this prominent racer .

1/2pt  win Noble Captain @ 4/1
