Last Saturday morning I was hospitalised with a reoccurrence of the bowel issue which also led to a stay in hospital during mid April . The doctors are happy that the infection has been killed off and hopefully , that is the end of it , fingers crossed . John
Due to pressure of time , selections only for the two early start meeting
3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Hyperfocus 3.07 @ 9/1
Mashoom 4.00 @ 6/1
Lexington Knight 4.25 @ 3/1
Selected Newcastle – all weather – tapeta , the track is stiff and galloping
12.20 1/4pt ew Coachello @ 16/1
12.55 PREMIUM RACE
1.30 PREMIUM RACE
2.05 1/4PT EW Zoffee @ 13/2
2.40 1/4pt ew Adeb @ 6/1
3.50 PREMIUM RACE
4.25 1/2PT WIN Lexington Knight @ 3/1
Selected Newmarket – good ground on this undulating , stiff and galloping track
12.40 1/4pt ew Neverstopdreaming @ 40/1
1.50 1/4pt win Jumby @ 11/2
3.35 1/4pt win D Day Arvalenreeva @ 9/2
4.10 1/4pt win Serengeti Spirit @ 11/2
Selected The Curragh – good ground on this undulating , stiff and galloping track
1.40 The fav is the Aiden O’Brian newcomer , the very well related City Of Troy , but as the stable’s juveniles can often need a run , preference is for recent C&D 2nd School Of Law , who was an expensive purchase as a 2yo and was favourite for the race , running a close 2nd.
1/2pt win School Of Law @ 9/2
2.50 Despite advancing years , the C&D regular Ice Cold In Alex holds his form well and this late player remains on a workable mark .
1/4pt ew Ice Cold In Alex @ 7/1
3.25 PREMIUM RACE
4.00 With question marks surrounding most of these , well worth s dabble on the hat-trick seeking Mashoor , who’s not far away on official ratings and his prominent racing style will be an asset against mostly hold up types.
1/2pt win Mashoor @ 6/1
4.35 The Ladies Derby and I’m with the unexposed Goodie Two Shoes , a winner of her first two starts before finding Listed class a bit heavy . Mark looks manageable in her first handicap and Rachel Blackmore rides.
1/4pt win Goodie Two Shoes @ 9/2
5.40 Ted Hastings is a useful hurdler and just did too much too early last time . He’s on a workable mark and a nice longshot .
1/4pt ew Ted Hastings @ 18/1
The Curragh placepot
Selected Chester – good ground on this flat and sharp track . A handy early position and a low draw are advantageous .
1.57 Not a deep maiden and the clear form horse is recent York 4th Etoile D’Alexandre . Not well drawn but showed good early pace in that contest , so should be fine getting a handy pitch and be too good.
1/2pt win Etoile D’Alexandre @ 2/1
2.32 The lightly raced Scintillante did well on his handicap debut chasing home one ahead of the game . Up 2 pounds but still holds the aces . Prominent racer .
1/2pt win Scintillante @ 2/1
3.07 Despite advancing years , useful front running handicapper Hyperfocus comes here on the back of a fine win at Ripon in a deep contest on his preferred soft ground . His draw is decent and handles this ground well . Could be away and gone .
1/2pt win Hyperfocus @ 9/1
4.17 O G Beachwear will be hard to beat after her close 4th over C&D . Race winning form in this average maiden .
3/4pt win O G Beachwear @ 13/8
4.52 The very tough and willing El Borracho is prolific over hurdles and is well capable on the flat . Mark a little high , but will need to be passed in a winnable finale.
1/4pt win El Borracho @ 7/1
Selected Windsor – good to firm on this flat and galloping track
2.45 Macanudo did well when 4th on debut suggesting the drop in trip will suit .Not a deep contest .
1/2pt win Macanudo @ 2/1
4.30 With 4 front runners in the field , including recent C&D winner , the penalised The Whipmaster , this may drop just nicely for the late players , which describes the admirably consistent and willing City Streak . Still on a good mark and preferred to recent Kempton close 2nd Educator , cruelly bunged up 4 pounds .
1/2pt win City Streak @ 7/2
5.05 A wide open finale and I’m forgiving Woolhampton’s recent poor run at Goodwood , as that track doesn’t suit every horse . Previously was a fine 5th of 18 ay York on quick ground and remains on a competitive mark .
1/4pt win Woolhampton @ 15/2
Selected Lingfield – first 3 races polytrack , last 4 turf – good to firm on an undulating and sharp track.
5.30 Philos comes here on a hat-trick , the latest being over C&D beating a couple of reliable yardsticks. Up 4 pounds but a very able 5 pound claimer takes the reins . This prominent racer could take some catching in a mostly modest field of mostly late players.
1/2pt win Philos @11/2
6.05 Third Batch is rarely far away , but remains a maiden after 10 tries, and the wide draw little help . Only a nose separated Optik and Zebra Star when 2nd and 3rd over C&D recently and as the tip has been luckier in the draw tonight , gets the nod .
1/4pt win Zebra Star @ 11/2
6.40 Dark Gold is yet another unexposed 3yo now going over a more suitable trip on his handicap debut but preference is for the front running and consistent Pink Lily . This C&D should be fine and despite being a few pounds higher than she’d like , is another front runner who’ll take a bit of catching .
1/4pt win Pink Lily @ 4/1
7.15 Graceful Thunder showed up well for a long way at Royal Ascot recently but could struggle to give weight to the consistent Dapperling , who brings tidy form to the table .
1/4pt win Dapereling @ 5/2
8.15 All of Amathus , Major Gatsby, Inverninate and Essmee have all run well over C&D of late but the late playing tip comes out just on top .
1/4pt win Major Gatsby @ 11/2
8.45 A very weak finale and the clear form horse is San Francisco Bay , up 2 pounds for a good 2nd recently , which shouldn’t make much difference against this opposition , but the drop in trip might . Fair odds .
1/4pt win San Francisco Bay @ 2/1
Selected Donny – good ground on this flat and galloping track
6.20 Looks a match between the in form pair of Bollin Margaret , who would prefer a longer trip and recent Yarmouth winner Queen’s Company , beating a pair of reliable yardsticks in her first try at this trip . Up 4 pounds but still preferred .
1/2pt win Queen’s Company @ 7/2
6.55 Not a deep juvenile maiden and Kaidu’s recent 2nd on this kind of ground , makes him the one to beat.
1/2pt win Kaidu @ 7/2
8.00 As the short priced fav Solar Orbiter has only raced on synthetics , the nod goes to the competitively handicapped Mudamer after his good close 3rd last time .
1/4pt win Mudamer @ 4/1
8.30 Good Earth is in terrific form , but a 5 pound nudge may be beyond him . There was little between the front running Cairn Gorm and the late playing Treacherous in higher grade at Windsor last time and with not much early in the race , the tip could take some catching .
1/4pt ew Cairn Gorm @ 8/1
9.00 The short priced fav is the lightly raced Desert Voice , a winner for his top Southern stable at this trip at Yarmouth , a win which puts him on a good mark but at the odds I prefer the chance of Concert Boy , a late player who was a good 2nd at Haydock last time . He too is lightly raced and has this C&D and ground in his favour .
1/2pt ew Concert Boy @ 8/1
