Selected Ayr – probably good to soft on this flat and galloping track
1.00The switch to turf has made a huge difference in Dandy Maestro , who came from a long way back to land a modest Nottingham handicap on easy ground but backed that up with a rout at Newbury , when ridden closer to the pace , winning by a long looking 7 lengths and you would think the 5 pound penalty wouldn’t stop him , especially as William Pyle keeps the ride in this apprentices handicap . He’s odds on for this and as there are alternatives , I’m having a play on track regular Corndavon Lad , who won over C&D off this mark and also ran some gallant races off higher ratings and resumed duties with another typically plucky effort over C&D when a close 4th , beaten less than a length. Should give us a good run for our money at long odds . It would be great if the ground dried out !

4.25 Lullaby Bay has won her last two, her only tries in handicaps and did well last time in a race full of pace at Thirsk , to stay the best to beat a big field, but the 2nd horse let the side down next time and with a 6 pound hit , could be in trouble . She’s likely to get her own way up front but could be a sitting duck for the strong finishing Firebomb , who uncharacteristically lost many lengths at the start at Ripon last time, but willingly got himself back in the race and was very determined in the finish , and the 2 pound hit could have far worse . The 2nd horse has run well since and I like his chance with the other three a bit to prove returning from breaks .
½ pt win Firebomb @ 7/2
Selected Yarmouth – good to firm ground on this flat and galloping track
1.25 Hardly a race for a good punt as it’s for apprentice jockeys and the only one with recent winning form is polytrack winner Central City , 4 pounds higher for the win and has a rare run on quick turf . Russian Virtue ran well over C&D to be 2nd off a 3 pound higher mark and made a right fist of it last time at Lingfield , when trying to make all , in a far better race , and only gave best late on . The young jockey is well worth his 5 pound claim , and can land a modest heat .
¼ pt win Russian Virtue @7/2
2.35 Looks very much a match but as Victory Star is a 5 pounds higher for an all the way win at Lingfield , preference for the admirably consistent Al Qaasim , but evens short enough for a single .
3.10 This will take little winning and hard looking past Diamond Cutter , , who tried to make all at Goodwood last time at this trip and only gave best late on . The only danger is the consistent Tazaman , but this one resumes duties on a tough enough mark , is far more potent on the all weather and has o record running well fresh.
¾ pt win Diamond Cutter @ 11/8
4.17 There’ll be no hanging about in this with all of Valentinka, Foreseeable Future, Epic Express and Tamaska known for getting busy early , and as the last trip are all penalised for recent successes and Valentinka likely to need the run this could well be fought out by the late finishers and as Tashkeer is making a meal of landing one, and first time blinkers a negative for the stable, deserved compensation could well come Verrraux Eagle’s way, beaten a nose at Brighton , then blocked in at Lingfield and came home close up with a full tank . Will Buick rode that day and had plenty of opportunities to furrow a clear passage , but must have been sure the horse was going to dot in , which it should have and can put the record straight today.
½ pt win Verraux Eagle @ 9/4
5.22 A weak finale but the well handicapped Amal was a running on decent 3rd at Nottingham last time at this trip and ground , and IF in the same mood , could run these down .
¼ pt ew Amal @ 11/1
Selected Warwick – good ground on this flat and sharp track
3.30 Sofia’s Rock is back to his best and despite a 7 pound hit , that just puts him on around his previous mark , and also very useful amateur Tristan Durrell takes that 7 pounds right off . This is not a deep race , and around this sharp track, this front runner should be very much away and gone .
¾ pt win Sofia’s Rock @ 5/4
4.05 It wasn’t the greatest of races which Great D’Ange won over C&D last time , with the very modest Bunny Boru in 2nd , so as suspected , the form may not amount to very much . I’m A Starman is a useful staying hurdler , who comes here in his usual good form with an excellent 3nd at Newbury in a competitive event and this course winner is 3 pounds lower having a rare try over hurdles and on his only other try , jumped adequately and I like his chance .
¾ pt win I’m A Starman @ 4/1
4.40 PREMIUM RACE
A very competitive handicap chase but this C&D on quick ground won’t be ideal for Dolos while both Rikoboy and Joke Dancer will run their races , but are now on stiff marks . The front running Sir Tivo is most prolific and as this C&D and ground will suit , is not out of this , but preference is for the consistent Leapaway , proven over C&D , loves quick ground and on a workable mark .
½ pt win Leapaway @ 4/1
Selected Southwell- good ground on this flat and sharp track
5.15 C&D winner Via Dolorosa is holding his form very well and lost nothing in defeat when 2nd in a deep handicap at Market Rasen , and serious opposition thin on the ground tonight . Expect another prominent ride and stays well.
¾ pt win Via Dolorosa @ 11/8
6.20 A good opportunity for Tick Tock Boom to finally open his account . He was a good 2nd at Plumpton last time at this trip, mark and ground and a repetition will see him home .
¼ pt win Tick Tock Boom @ 7/4
7.50 It didn’t look a very deep race when Kennock Bay was 2nd resuming duties after a break but the well beaten 3rd horse has won since and this lightly raced sort was front rank throughout and never stopped trying at Uttoxeter and the slightly longer trip will suit .
½ pt win Kennock Bay @ 7/2
Selected Kempton – all weather – polytrack
6.00 C&d specialist Uzincso put in a better run last time , now that handicapper is cutting some slack , but has been very unlucky in the draw . Lafan runs this C&D very well but is a bit high in the weights but from a good draw , shouldn’t be far away . Encouraged won well at Southwell last time , and is only a pound higher , and has also run well here , and this longer trip should be within range . Newton Jack and Rogue Force are another pair who tick plenty of boxes .
½ pt win Encouraged @ 10/3
7.30 Vert few come into this in encouraging form , the exception is smart Hamilton winner Heart Of Soul , who has no penalty , but can only be watched switching to the all weather , at which he is 0 from 3 , but has never run badly but preference is for track specialist Spring Glow who notched a double here in his last two runs of last season and recently returned , on his new lofty mark , with a fair effort on turf and this late player could be up to overcoming his rating .
¼ pt win Spring Glow @ 9/2
8.00 Not a deep contest but a chance can be given to the lowly drawn Biggles , just a pound higher for his last win of last season , which looks very generous and is a winner here , but likely to need this run judged on his profile and this late player could have nowhere to go when making his late move. Got No Dollars put together an excellent series of runs earlier in the year , but this grade and mark made it tough for him over C&D last time . Ivasecret was a smart winner at Lingfield last time and is also proven over C&D . Up 2 pounds but that can’t stop him being very competitive in what looks a winning opportunity .
½ pt win Ivasecret @ 11/4
