Today’s Multi 3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Minella Crooner 5.20 @ 9/2
Sams Choice 4.15 @ 10/3
Darbucks 4.00 @ 5/1
Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta
1.05 PREMIUM RACE
1.35 The clear form horse is Pangloss and he’s proven at the track and trip and brings the best form to the table and a deserved win looks on from a good draw for this prominent racer .
½ pt win Pangloss @ 9/4
2.10 The odds on fav is the hat-trick seeking , but was all out to land a modest race over C&D last time and the 3 pound hit now gives her a vulnerable look , but could well get away with it in this weak heat as neither Engrave nor Peripetia are showing enough to be on interest and Rozalia returns after an 18 months absence , but worth a play as the best time to catch long time absentees is first time back and when last seen over C&D suffered a narrow defeat off an 8 pound higher mark than today !
½ pt win Rozalla @ 4/1
2,45 The clear form horse is the very consistent Away Wit Da Fairys , who landed a deserved win at Lingfield off a mark of just 50 and continues to run well off his present mark of 60 . He’s fine on tapeta and expect a prominent ride from regular jockey Kieran O’Neill , and the opposition have a lot more to prove than him .
¼ pt win Away Wit Da Fairys @ 11/2
4.00 The lightly raced Darbucks lost little in defeat in his first run over C&D when never far from the pace and keeping on well to chase home Bang On The Bell , who’s held his form well off a much higher mark . There’s plenty of early pace in this but the tip was happy stalking a strong pace when last here , and had plenty left for the final push . He wasn’t disgraced last time at Catterick on soft turf behind shock winner Golden Gal, who’s unlikely to confirm the form with a 5 pound penalty , switching to tapeta and under a struggling jockey .
½ pt win Darbucks @ 5/1
Selected Ascot – good to firm on this stiff and galloping track
1.50 With the exception of the hugely regressive History Writer , hard to rule anything out of this competitive apprentices’ handicap but the consistent Enough Already ran a cracker at Kempton last time, which came off this mark and has some smart fast turf form off higher marks .
¼ pt ew Enough Already @ 8/1
2,25 Both Michaela’s Boy and Whistle and flute won well on debut , and the latter impressed so much that he’s the short priced fav in this , but never easy for 2yos to carry a penalty , especially giving chunks of weight to the filly Fragrance who ran very well to be 2nd on debut in what looked a decent maiden .
½ pt win Fragrance @ 9/4
4.10 Go Bears Go established himself as one of the best 2yos around last season , and should have too much for some decent yet inferior opposition . C&d should be fine and fast ground suits
4.40 Valiant Prince looks very good for the 4 timer against rivals out of form or outclassed .
½ double Go Bears Go, @ 11/8 Valiant Prince @ 8/11
5.10 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Ponty – good to firm on this undulating , galloping and stiff track
2.00 The short priced fav is recent C&D winner King Of Tonga, and is only 2 pounds higher but quicker ground could be his demise . This isn’t a deep race and as Red Wallis was all out to land a Wolver handicap last time and has been nudged up the ratings, worth a dabble on C&D winner Dapper Man , behind King Of Tonga last time , but not far behind and better ground suits.
¼ pt win Dapper Man @ 6/1
3.10 Love Your Work clearly hasthe bit between his teeth coming into this on the back of 3 wins and 3 seconds and showed what rude health he is in with a first ever win on turf at Beverley , so this stiff track should suit . 5 pounds higher and ground a bit quicker so I’m with the late playing and very effective C&D winner Bookmark , who’s with a new stable and if ready to go , has the form to land this .
½ pt win Bookmark @ 4/1
3.50 As Eilean dubh has showed his best form on the all weather , preference is for the well handicapped Yanifer , proven at the trip, ground and a stiff track .
¼ pt win Yanifer @ 3/1
4.55 Missed The Cut showed promise in a decent looking maiden at Newmarket but this drop in trip doesn’t look likely to aid his cause. Al Baahy ran to a better level than the odds on fav a few times last season when trained by Sir Michael Stoute, and has been moved to the Kevin Frost stable for not a giveaway of £50,000 , and his new home does well with fresh intakes .
¼ p t win Al Baahy @ 5/1
5.30 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Punchestown – good to soft on this undulating and galloping track .
3.40 A massive field for this ultra competitive handicap for Conditional jockeys , but a solid case can be made for the unexposed mare Humble glory . Trained by Gordon Elliott , she’s won once and been placed 3 times in her 4 runs here and when last seen at this track, gave the progressive Party Central an almighty shock . going down by a head in a Listed event and the winner won a Listed race here yesterday and is rated 135 making the tip’s mark of just 118 , very workable . She could have done better in her first handicap but still ran ok to be 4th at Ballinrobe but that tight track wouldn’t be in her favour , and her mark has been protected and she’s had a run to clear the cobwebs , as it was 3 months since her previous run in which she struggled on deep ground in a Grade 2 long distance event .
½ pt ew Humble Glory @ 10/1
4.15 Sams Choice has had narrow rear views of both Glengouly and Freedom to Dream of late , but is favoured by the weights today and he runs this C&D very well .
½ p t win Sams Choice @ 10/3
4.45 Not a competitive heat and offers a cracking opportunity for the Nicky Henderson trained Fils D’Oudaires, who has run two crackers for Nicky Henderson stable since joining this top stable , and comes here on the back of a great 2nd of 21 at Aintree and looks good to enhance the stable’s good record at this meeting of 3 wins from just 7 runners .
½ pt win Fils d’Oudairies @ 7/4
5.20 The nice Guy made it a perfect 4 from 4 when winning at The Cheltenham Festival , a ready winner over Minella Cocooner and his chance is clear of making it 5 from 5 but MInella Crooner , was arguably unlucky when just behind Minella Cocooner and as he’s 2 from 2 at the track, very likely to appreciate this longer trip and comes here a fresher horse than most , looks very solid ew .
½ pt ew Minella Crooner @ 9/2
5.55 PREMIUM RACE
6.30 It’s hard seeing the son of outstanding mare Quevega not going 4 from 4 in bumpers as she won at Cheltenham with ease , and better ground quicker track no issue , but is odds on .
7.05 Annamix comes here on the back of a very big run when 2nd In the Topham Chase, over the National fences , going out hard and only giving best on the run in to be 3rd of 29 . He’s 2 pounds lower, ran well in this last year when 5th and better can be expected of given another positive ride .
½ pt ew Annamix @ 9/1
I’ve gone through the night meetings at Musselburgh and Brighton with my usual full focus but the vast majority of the races are full of ifs buts and maybes and in many races you are dealing with low grade handicappers on long losing runs. I’m just having 1 play and not over confident with even that
Brighton 5.35 Fat Gladiator finally gained reward for a series of good efforts on the all weather with a win at Kempton , in a race full of early pace which suits very much his patiently ridden style. Back in 4th was Naughty Nadine , who did well being one of the many prominent racers in the field and stuck on bravely to be 4th , less than 2 lengths behind the winner and enjoys a 4 pound pull and followed up with a front running 2nd at Catterick , getting chinned by a strong finisher . She stays on the same mark and is proven on quick turf and a sharp undulating left handed track , which her victor certainly is not . More of a danger is the admirably consistent Roxzoff , 2 wins and 2 seconds in his last 4 , going down by just a nose at Beverley on quick turf but this sharp C&D could catch him out .
¼ pt win Naughty Nadine @ 7/2
