Burrows Diamond set to sparkle in the 2.05

Today’s Trixie

3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble

Emperor Caradoc 1.40 @ 10/3

Burrows Diamond 2.05 @ 3/1

Princess T 7.30 @ 7/2

Selected Ripon – soft ground on this undulating and sharp track

1.00Despite having to carry a penalty , Star Of The Lady won really well on  debut which came on  soft ground , so looks a tough nut to crack , but is 4/6.

1.40 This is more about quantity than quality and offers a good opportunity for Emperor Caradoc to double up . After two good runs in maidens , she lad all the way to land a soft ground Redcar maiden , running to a level making her opening handicap mark well workable . Another prominent ride will be to his advantage and looks the best bet on the card .

½ pt  win Emperor Caradoc @ 10/3

2.15 Mark’s Choice starts his campaign at his best track , a very impressive 6 wins and 3 places from 13 tries , and won this last year , first time back, but is 3 pounds higher for his last success , which doesn’t rule him out , but the soft ground could. Wades Magic ended the season with a cracking series of 2 wins and 3 places from 5 runs , including a win over C&D and ended with a decent 3rd on soft ground off this mark, but record fresh is not good. Fortamour ran consistently well last year , but only one win, which came over C&D off this mark . His recent turf comeback spin was encouraging , 5th of 18 at Donny , and he’s run well in limited tries on soft ground . Late player .

¼ pt  win Fortamour @ 5/2

2.50 Glasses Up will need this run and is far more effective over longer trips. The ultra consistent Fairmax , who certainly deserves more than just the 3 career wins is likely to take them along . His mark is workable , but soft ground a worry . Wots The Wifi Code won well on his comeback spin at Donny on easy ground , and the 2nd horse has won since and this late player will appreciate the softer ground but the 8 pound hit will take some overcoming and goes up sharply In grade. Skycutter was far from disgraced at The Cheltenham Festival and was also a magnificent 4th in the November Handicap , which was on soft ground but further but has gone well over this C&D . A useful 7 pound claimer rides .

½ pt win Skycutter @ 2/1

3.25 The even money fav Galileo Glass certainly has a chance but so others in this 3yo handicap and I’m trying Blenheim Boy who ended the season with a soft ground win at York and on a fair mark on handicap debut .

¼ pt  win Blenheim Boy @ 5/1

4.35 A competitive finale and you can’t disagree with the bookies making this between the I form trip of Empirestateofmind , Wizard D’Amour and Challet and despite a lesser effort than expected on his comeback spin , Challet is 2 from 3 over C&D , no issue with soft ground , is the likely leader , which helps and the young jockey in this apprentices ‘ race rides the track well.

¼ pt  win Challet @ 7/2

Selected Newmarket – good ground on this undulating , stiff and galloping track

3.00 This has a winnable look to it and you have to respect the chances of the fav in Carlous Magnus , who is a significant 2 from 2 over C&D on this kind of ground , but odds short enough considering he’s up a stiff 5 pounds and the first time hood not a positive for the top stable . Siam Fox landed a double last season, the last win coming off this mark , when landing a competitive heat on quick ground at Donny , but did end the season poorly . Ryan Moore is an eyecatching booking and worth a dabble at long odds .

¼ pt  ew  Siam Fox @ 16/1

1.30 The prolific Theatre Royal is certainly the one to beat at he ratings , but how will this odds on shot cope first try on a stiff track ??

No Bet

2.05 There was plenty of money for Found On last time out at Market Rasen when gifted an easy lead and the 5 pound hit could have been worse , but will have opposition up front from the ultra consistent Precious Eleanor who landed a deserved win last time after 5 2nd places . She had Found On behind at Uttoxeter when this pair battled for the lead and all the time , the prolific Burrows Diamond was lying in wait and when asked for a response , and it was immediate, winning very easily and he comes here on the back of another  big run on good ground when finding the useful Soldier Of Destiny just too strong , but had a useful one well held in 3rd . Little river Bay is an admirably tough and prolific mare but has a rare run  on good ground, but is 1 from 1 on this surface but the First time hood is a negative for the good stable . The fav is mud loving Fontaine Collonges, who is on a stiff mark and on ground this quick , likely to be chasing shadows. The tip can bide his time and every chance this C&D will suit

½ pt  win Burrows Diamond @ 3/1

4.25 The Glancing Queen is a classy chaser but at this trip, I favour the consistent Irish raider Alice Avril , and Rachel Blackmore rides !

¼ pt  win Alice Avril @ 3/1

Selected Bath- good to soft on this undulating , sharp but stiff track

4.20 This is far more about quantity than quality and the short priced fav Fristral looks far from bombproof . Therehegoes landed a handicap here last season off around this mark and generally held his form well off much higher marks. As with most horses , the battle against the handicapper results in lack of confidence and motivation , but definite signs that the ease in the ratings is helping and looks a lovely longshot .

¼ pt   ew Therehegoes @ 16/1

4.55 Global Effort was 4th on debut on easy ground at Leicester , so has conditions in his favour tonight and the form is rock solid .

½ pt win  Global Effort @ evens

6.00 Not a strong race and hard to argue against the fav Covert Mission’s chance , despite a 3 pound nudge up the ratings for another win at Kempton . Proven on turf but 6/4 way to skinny , especially as he’s been off the track for 2 months. Both My Brother Mike and Kenstone are track winners , who could be coming here In better form but you don’t have to go far back with either to give them definite shouts .

7.00 The lightly raced Kalamity Kitty comes here on a hat-trick doing very well to win last time switching to the all weather and dropping in trip, showing great willing in the finish . This isn’t a searching examination and the 4 pound hit looks within reach and no issues with this trip nor ground .

½ pt  win Kalamity Kitty @ 9/4

7.30 Another race where few count and a golden opportunity for the consistent Princess T with no issues with mark , trip or ground .

½ pt win Princess T @ 7/2
