Jersey Lady can jump(er) to it in the 1.35

Today’s Trixie

3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble

Jersey Lady 1.35 @ 5/1

Beau Haze 2.45 @ 7/2

Brazil 2.20 @ 2/1

Selected Ffos Las – good ground on this flat and galloping track

1.35 The ground has finally come right for the well handicapped Jersey Lady , who stays this trip well and has found a clear winning opportunity with rivals either happier on softer ground or returning from breaks with no good record of running well fresh .

½ pt  win Jersey Lady @ 5/1

2.10 Both the recent winners in Longshanks and Marretimo have it to prove under stiff penalties and going up markedly in trip . The well handicapped Pennyforapound is inconsistent but if on a going day , could collect .

¼ pt   ew  Pennyforapound @ 7/1

2.45 Despite a stiff 5 pound penalty , Beau Haze won off higher marks than today last season , and over this C&D and this determined sort has found a winning opportunity taking on some very doubtful stayers .

½ pt  win Beau Haze @ 7/2

3.20 The key issue here is the much quicker ground , and easy seeing many of these flat out from flagfall . The ground may well be quick enough for the well handicapped Notachance, but staying is his game and took a welcome step forward last time out .

¼ pt  win Notachance @ 15/2

4.25 The switch to front running on better ground heralded a much improved run from the well handicapped Abaya Du Mathan , , and he’s likely to  be away and gone in a modest finale .

½ pt  win Abaya Du Mathan @  2/1

Selected Taunnton – probably good ground on this flat and sharp track

1.27 The odds on fav is youngster Kilosi after a smart win at Hereford at this trip and only has a pound penalty , but in an uncompetitive heat , the reliable Poet’s Reflection is a nice longshot with the ground and track in his favour and on a workable mark .

¼ pt   ew  Poet’s Reflection @ 14/1

2.35 The fav is Go Sacre Go who has been unconvincing of late and this longer trip far from sure to help . Doyens De Ante has showed up well a few times of late and this longer trip / quicker ground could help .

¼ pt  ew Doyens De ante @ 7/1

3.10 The prolific Chaser Diligent is likely to give best to young hurdler Inca De Lafayette , who’s only an even money chance .

NO Bet

3.45 Despite the small field, highly competitive but Bells of Peterborough needs it much softer and this longer trip not in the favour of Flashing Glance . Sirrobbie is going pretty well and looks overpriced for his chance . The other pair have most solid credentials .

¼ pt  ew Sirobbie @ 7/1

Aintree – probably good ground on this flat and galloping track

1.45 The key factor in this Grade 1 novice chase is the race make up as The Widdow Maker is certain to bomb off , as is Gin On Lime , while Pic D’Orhy , can’t be too far off the pace to be effective , and could do a bit too much too soon to close on the front pair . The prolific Erne River is very much the apple of the eye of the small stable of Nick Kent and his lofty rating of 144 is well deserved and this smooth traveller has the ground and probably the C&D in his favour and wont mind biding his time but the nod goes to the useful Millers Bank , who has fallen in two of his 4 races , once with the race in the bag . He’s a late player and strong finisher as he showed last season outrunning long odds to be 3rd in the 2 and ½ mile hurdle on this day last year . Splitting my stake

¼ pt win each Erne River @ 5/2 Millers Bank @ 7/1  – why not , a small rev fc

2.20 The bookies are concentrating on the pair of Irish juveniles , in Brazil , a very determined winner of the big field Boodles juvenile handicap at Cheltenham , getting the better of a Willie Mullins “ unknown “ who he considered to be very well handicapped . Brazil was almost pushed off the track early on and encountered further traffic problems, but didn’t let any of that out him off and he was ultra determined in the finish to  win very well and is up against Pied Piper ,an excellent 3rd in the Triumph Hurdle , and has a slight edge on official ratings . This totally different C&d may not be ideal for either but hard not seeing these fighting it out and as Brazil is a right terrier in the finish , gets the nod .

½ pt  win Brazil @ 2/1

5.15 You’d do very well finding the winner In this massive field bumper for fillies and mares and a valid case can be made for many but I’m trying Iliade Allen , a smart winner at Warwick , so this track should suit and ran Poetic Music close at Cheltenham , and that one ran a belter at the Festival to be 6th . She has recently changed hands for £130,000 , quite a wedge for a National Hunt horse and is now with Paul Nichols . that’ll do me .

Selected Chelmsford City – all weather – polytrack

4.00 Tricky opener with a number of candidates. Hat-trick seeking Sammy Sunshine looks well capable of getting involved off just a 4 pound higher mark from a good draw and a good jockey in this race for apprentices . Pips Tune landed a double here before going on to prove his stamina with a good 2nd on turf , and stays on around the same mark. I give the nod to C&D winner The Bay Warrior , weighted to reverse form with Sammy Sunshine and is another with a good jockey booking and a good draw. The consistent Masqool could struggle to get involved from a bad draw and switching back to polytrack but the consistent Thunderroad is not to be ruled out after two good 2nds over C&D of late , but is another badly drawn .It’s likely that the prominent racers will be the fancied runners with the tip edging it .

¼ pt win The Bay Warrior @ 4/1

4.35 This is there for the taking and there’s been a flood of money for the ex- Irish Umneyaat , now with the upwardly mobile stable of George Boughey , but not for me at evens at all , and no suitable alternative .

No Bet

5.08 A modest maiden and understandable that recent easy C&d winner Alia Choice is a warm order from a good draw despite Intelligentsia having stronger form, but this one has a bit to prove : off the track for 7 months and when last seen ran a stinker , drops in trip and switches to polytrack , and not bred for synthetics , but another race I can afford to pass .

No Bet

5.43 The fav is Bailey’s Derbyday who returns from a 10 months absence , but is on a fair mark , but best runs came on soft ground , so this surface unlikely to suit. Koeman is in  and out nowadays but comes here on the back of a good effort at Lingfield , and no issue with the longer trip so shortlisted but the nod goes to the well handicapped High Wells , who certainly has had his problems , but returned from a lengthy absence with a reasonable recent effort at Kempton . He knows how to win and as long as he doesn’t bounce , could collect .

¼ pt win High Wells @ 13/2

6.15 Minefield of a race

6.45 Mashkaan demolished the field over C&D last time , leading all the way for a 5 lengths win but the 5 pound hit will test . Not well drawn but little early pace in the contest , so not ruled out as he again could get the run of the race. Legende d’Art has a cracking record here , 2 wins and 3 places from just 6 tries so has to be considered off just a 2 pound higher mark than his last win , despite it being by just a short head . Got No Dollars has taken off since joining the Stuart Williams yard and did little wrong last time when narrowly beaten by the prolific Sayyouwill , but a further 2 pound nudge up the ratings makes it even tougher tonight . Fangorn has responded to the ease in the ratings and was a close 2nd off this mark at this trip at Southwell behind the in form Chookie Dunedin  and has run two of his best races ever on polytrack . Has a poor win record , but never been this low in the handicap .

¼ pt  ew Fangorn @ 7/1

7.15 An easy finale to swerve with both of the clear form horses in Mighty Fine and Atrafan both with a stack to prove switching to polytrack and plenty of the rest have a chance , but too inconsistent to support .
