I don’t wish to be disrespectful to either of the course administrators at Bath or Wetherby , or to the trainers or even the horses, but today we are dealing with very low grade fare and with horses with poor win records , so , not getting heavily involved at all
3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Portelet Bay 1.30 @ 11/4
Ginger Jam 2.40 @ 3/1
Sense Of Security 4.55 @ 5/2
Selected Bath- good to firm on this sharp but stiff track
1.30 The consistent Macs Dilemma has a bit to prove on ground this quick which offers a good opportunity for C&D winner Portelet Bay , who has dropped to a good mark and has had excuses for a couple of below par runs of late . He has a very rare run in a 0-60 and should be landing this . I’d be a bit more confident if it wasn’t for the fact that today’s jockey ,the capable George Downing has yet to ride a winner here in 6 tries ! but at least he has had plenty of experience .
½ pt win Portelet Bay @ 11/4
2,40 Ginger Jam is extremely potent at tracks with stiff uphill finishes ,and in his last 7 victories , 5 have come at Beverley and 2 here ! He did little wrong on his comeback spin at Beverley , from the worst of the draw , and this effective late player will have an ideal strong pace to chase and the apprentice jockey has ridden the tip to victory 6 times !
½ pt win Ginger Jam @ 3/1
3.15 PREMIUM RACE
4.55 The lightly raced Sense of Security ended last season with a running on 2nd , in her first handicap , the race coming here on quick turf over 6 furlongs , which looked too short and she comes here on the back of two good efforts on the all weather , the latest a solid 3rd at Kempton at this trip and this mark , and another race where quantity outweighs quality .
½ pt win Sense Of Security @ 5/2
Sorry folks , don’t believe in tipping up for the sake of it and with so many of the runners at Wetherby having their first ever tries on quick turf , you would be guessing with the 3yo handicaps, something the bookies love and as the other races look destined for odds on favs , or handicaps for older horses , who also have it to prove on quick ground , just the 1 play at this track
4.05 Soul Seeker has clear claims after a cracking comeback spin at Beverley , and over this more benign track, should see out the extra half furlong well enough but In a race lacking depth , the late playing Wentworth Falls will relish the ground , was unlucky in his comeback spin and ended last season with a close 3rd at Haydock off a slightly higher mark .
¼ pt ew Wentworth Falls @ 10/1
