1.00Choix Des Armes comes here on the back of an overdue win , relishing the heavy ground for a spirited win at Wetherby . He’s 4 pounds higher today but tries a very different type of track and the stable’s record here is poor. Shaw’s Cross last rang The Victory Bell over 2 years ago, but has been running some good races of late and handles the mud. The stable makes the 650 mile round trip , and this journey has paid off before .

2.05 Fonzirelli is a young mare going places and was a clear winner of a Listed event in the Donny mud last time out. No issues with ground or this kind of track and is the bet of the day for big rollers at 4/9 .

2.40 Real Armani is a very tough and resolute track regular, who has dropped to a very good mark and this prominent racer wont mind the soft surface. He looked to have suffered from 2 very hard races here , one a 4 mile marathon , the other on very deep ground and his raceshave been more spread out of late . There are other C&D specialists in the race in Cudgel and Hidden Cargo, who would both do well to go close off stiff marks but both the consistent pair of Gypsy Rose Lee and The lion Dancer have clear claims .

Selected Windsor – probably good ground on this flat and galloping track – speed track .
1.50 Many of these are fit from the all weather , but that is their preferred surface and few can be fancied in this. There is little between the reliable pair of Glamorous Breeze and Gherkin, who both hold their form well despite now being on career high marks . At this trip I fancy the latter to have the edge , but worried about the usual blinkers missing , but has run well without the blinds .

2.20 Monsieur Patat finally responded to plenty of help from the handicapper with a win at Lingfield over a longer trip , and his only other win was over C&d , off a 9 pound higher mark than today , bit that did come on soft ground . He’s not one to set your clock by and as recent Lingfield 3rd Winnetka has never run well here , the consistent if luckless Breezyandbright remains on the same mark when a good 3rd on his final outing if last season and looks a solid ew play .

2.30 Claim The Stars ran some good races for Mark Johnston last season , but failed to win and now races for Tim Easterby , whose horses are just not running anywhere near their best . Ramuso Creek was very consistent last year , but failed to win also, but wont get a better chance.

4.15 Not a deep race and the clear form horse in Al Qaasim , is proven on the ground and the mark is fine and over this stiff C&D, the drop in trip shouldn’t be an issue , and he’s won twice at this trip already .

4.50 Wemyss Point is 2 from 2 in this extreme test of stamina and hasn’t been running badly on the all weather , getting ready for his turf target . He’s on a good mark , but will want the ground to dry out. Slight preference is for Dereham , proven on the ground and has run well here before giving the impression , the further he goes the better .
