Star of the Show in the 2.50

Today’s trixie

3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble

Can Can Girl 3.25 @ 11/2

Don’t Ask 4.55 @ 2/1

Show Yourself 2.50 @ 5/1

Selected Beverley – good ground on this stiff and galloping track

1.00Experience counts for plenty in early season 2yo races and as Rousing Encore was a running on 3rd at Leicester , behind a couple who brought good experience to the contest , he can exploit a good draw and be a welcome winner for a surprisingly present barren Richard Fahey .

½ pt  win Rousing Encore @ 9/4

1.40 Sweet Madness ended last season with a double , and is 2 from 2 in handicaps . She’s only 3 pounds higher , is well drawn and shapes as if this extra yardage will suit.

1/2pt  ew  Sweet Madness @ 11/1

2.15 Piastrella is another to end the season with a double , both wins significantly over C&D and resumes duties on a very workable mark and an Ok draw . Just a dabble as the Nigel Tinkler stable is presently struggling .

¼ pt   ew  Piastrella @ 9/1

2.50 Despite the big field, precious little early pace and the most probable leader is C&D specialist Show yourself , who is 4 from 5 here and despite being 4 pounds higher than his last win, ran respectably on his recent comeback spin , and could be hard to reel in from an Ok draw.

½ pt Show Yourself @ 5/1

3.25 The penalty and quicker ground wont help the in form Jamil while lord Torrenaga and Berry Edge would be happier on softer ground . The admirably consistent Can Can Girl resumes duties on a stiff enough mark , but could well get away with it in this winnable heat .

1/2pt  win Can Can Girl @ 11/2

4.35 The very well handicapped and likeable Susie Javea , finally responded to the handicapper’s help with a much improved effort at Newcastle and she was 3rd in this race last year , off a 10 pound  higher mark ! I’d been more confident if there wasn’t that much early pace around to pester this prominent racer .

½ pt   ew  Susie Javea @10/1

Selected Cheltenham – good ground on this undulating , galloping and stiff track

1.30 Bold Plan is likely to struggle on the quicker ground , so the hat-trick will be tough while Romeo Brown , makes the 325mile round trip for the back to form Sue Smith , but would do well doubling up off a 7 pound higher mark. Whatsupwithyou is on a losing run but was well backed last time off this much  reduced mark and only found Neon Moon just too good , and that one doubled up next time under a penalty . Could be his day .

2.05 The very wonderful Coole Cody is a very stiff 7 pounds higher for his terrific win at the Cheltenham Festival , but ran in this last year, off a much lower mark and had a tidy rear view of Manofthemountain, whose programme suggests this is his target , despite being 5 pounds higher than last year and a couple of modest tries of late .

¼ pt  win Manofthemountain @ 5/1

2.40 This looks a 3 horse war and all of Call Of The Wind , Pull again Green and Royaume Uni have strong claims . They’re closely matched at the ratings but the in form tip is proven at this unique track .

¼ pt  win Royaume Uni @ 11/4

3.15 The ground has come right for Big Nasty, who has dropped to a good mark and proven around here , and gets the nod .

¼ pt  win Big Nasty @ 11/4

3.50 This represents a big ask for the admirable Chambard , 4 wins and 2 seconds in his last 6 , culminating in a wonderful win at The Cheltenham Festival, when defying odds of 40/1 to win well. he’s 8 pounds higher , and better ground no real help. The front running Storm Control is 2 from 4 here and despite a stiff mark , could take some catching in a field of mostly late players. I’m torn between him and the well handicapped Padleyourowncanoe , who wont mind the ground or the C&D .

¼ pt  win Storm Control @ 7/1, ¼ pt  ew  Padleyourowncanoe, small rev fc ??

5.00Not  a deep finale and a  decent opportunity for recent Newcastle winner Rock Legend , nicely handicapped on that run , this C&D should suit and has a good jockey in a race for conditional riders.

¼ pt  win Rock Legend @ 11/4

Selected Southwell – good ground on this flat and sharp track

4.55 The ground is very much in the favour of the front running Don’t ask , who runs this track very well and did well to hang on to the lead as long as he did last time out over C&D with fierce competition for the lead and was only outstayed by the very much in form Steel Dawn . He’d harshly been  bunged up 3 pounds and he does find this trip far enough , but with the prospect of a soft lead , he could be very hard to catch .

¾ pt  win Don’t ask @ 15/8

6.30 The front running Cooldine Bog has some good runs on his CV off higher marks and around this trip . As recent winners Honor grey and Vive Le Roi could find the ground on the lively side , could surprise .

¼ pt  ew  Cooldine Bog @ 12/1

7.30 Despite the big field, few come here with high hopes and the consistent , well handicapped and down in grade City Derby , can have his day in the sun after some good runs of late and this speed track should suit this late player .

¼ pt  win City Derby @ 5/1

Selected Kempton – good ground on this flat and sharp track

4.40 Sofia’s Rock was a useful 98 rated middle distance flat horse, always relied upon to run well and began his career  over hurdles pretty well, running to marks around 140, in keeping with his flat ability , but too many races on soft ground caused the wheels to fall off and his mark has plummeted . He had an easy task in a Stratford seller last time , and absolutely sluiced in , running to a level not far off his peak and is allowed to race off just 115 tonight . This sharp C&D will suit as will the ground and this wont take much winning and in a race for conditional jockeys , has a smart rider aboard .

½ pt  win Sofias Rock @ 9/2

5.10 Should be no pobs at all for recent good ground Wincanton winner Name In Lights in a modest event .

½ pt win Name In Lights @ 4/5

6.10 Slate House is on a long losing run and down in trip will have to front run , which wont help dual C&D winner Rockstar Ronnie , who loves the ground but now on  a stiff mark and likes to dominate . The admirably consistent Doukarov , 2 wins and 5 places in his last 7 , raised his game again last time out going down narrowly off around this mark and will have a good target to aim at coming from off the pace .

¼ pt win Doukarov @ 9/2

6.40 The strong staying Stormy Flight put in a much better run last time switching to front running and a repeat of those tactics could this well handicapped good ground lover tough to catch .

¼ pt  win Stormy Flight @ 4/1

7.10 Only 3 go but hard seeing Twenty Twenty prevailing up in  the ratings and grade . The well handicapped Ofalltheginjoints has been running better than his form figures suggest and a return to good ground in his favour .

½ pt  win Ofalltheginjoints @ 5/2
