2.03 It’s hard to knock the consistent Colnago , never far away in all 5 career runs and comes here on the back of a fine effort at this trip at Newcastle , at this trip, a run which puts this prominent racer on a fair mark . More benign track today , but it’s not a deep nursery.

3.03 Another race where it’s hard fancying many with plenty coming here on the back of some disappointing efforts. Thunder Gap has obviously had his problems as this 5yo has just his 7th race ever , and last time was a good 2nd at Newcastle , giving the impression the longer trip would suit and can overcome a 2 pound hit . Uther Pendragon came out of the cold last time out with a win at Lingfield , his first for 2 and a half years , and with an able 5 pound claimer eating up the penalty , not ruled out as he handles this surface .

3.33 Yet another low grade handicap , this time for stayers , and hard seeing the consistent Kitten’s Dream being far away , as usual . Proven over C&D and this late player can stay on the best . A mention for the well handicapped and of late enigmatic Norman Kindu as a close and special friend of mine is one of the owners . His form has been mixed of late , a few good efforts , but mostly running below par, often looking disinterested . He’s down to a very good mark and if consenting to put his best foot forward , could land this at long odds and be the perfect tonic for my friend who’s suffering with the lurgy .

4.35 The ex-Irish Blind Beggar is of obvious interest having his first start for Mike Appleby , who does very well with new intakes , but a record of 1 from 23 , certainly off putting , and you have to have similar reservations about another consistent sort in Total Commitment , rarely far away but getting on for two years since his last win . Belagio Man comes here in fine form , never out of the first 3 in his last 4, all at this trip and surface and latest effort , when a good close 3rd , shows his present mark is not beyond him .

5.05 in another modest heat , the short priced fav is recent Wolver 2nd Politics , this came in his first start for Mike Appleby , and stays on the same mark , but has a in record of just 1 from 20 and runs at this longer trip have been mixed . Claim The Stars comes here on the back of two solid efforts on this surface and was just given too much to do last time when 5th of 14 at Newcastle . A more prominent ride can see an even better showing in a race where few count .
