Captain Tommy in charge in the 3.30

Selected Thirsk- good to firm on this flat and galloping track , speed track

Today’s Multi 3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble

After John 1.30 @ 3/1

Captain Tommy 3.30 @ 4/1

Some Day Soon 4.05 @ 11/1

1.30 Very few come into this with high hopes and a deserved win likely for the back to form After John. He’s run very well In both runs for his new stable this season , and this late player was a close 2nd over C&d on the mud and backed that up with a close 3rd on fast ground at Haydock . There is a stack of early pace around , but most are drawn high , so the low draw is the only factor which could spoil his day , but this looks a golden opportunity .

½ pt  win After John @ 3/1

3.20 Most of these are unproven either on quick turf or the trip which makes C&D fast ground winner Wor Willie of interest , despite being 5 pounds higher for his win which came In lower grade .

¼ pt  win Wor Willie @ 13/2

Selected Newmarket – good to firm on this undulating , stiff and galloping track

1.15 The flying Flotus came to hand early last year and very likely to make every post a winning post as she has a very comfortable buffer at the weights , but I can pass at 4/6.

No Bet

2.25 Plenty of useful and In form types on workable marks and suited to this trip and ground but recent Nottingham winner Fast Medicine has a task trying to follow up with a 5 pound penalty , considering he was battling frequently to overcome his previous mark . Turntable came to hand early last season and ended the season with a fine win over C&D on quick turf , given his usual patient ride and with plenty of early pace in the race and the 3 pound hit looking manageable , a nice longshot .

¼ pt  ew  Turntable @ 9/1

3.00 A good field for this Group 3 Palace House Sprint , but the favourite , Twilight Calls has plenty to find at the ratings with a  number of these and is graduating from handicap company . Despite carrying a penalty , the useful Hurricane Ivor brings cracking form to the table and this consistent and determined sprinter’s last win  was in a Group 3 . the late playing grey Came from The dark was an unlucky when a close 2nd in this last year while Tis Marvellous held his good form very well last season .

¼ pt  ew Hurricane Ivor @ 7/1

3.40 The 2000 Guineas and the even money fav is the unbeaten , 5 from 5 Native trial , who runs in the Godolphin blue, but he’s drawn out In the car park and with the early pace drawn on the opposite side of the track , besides taking on the warmest company he’s ever faced , could find himself in an impossible position . He’s not the only unbeaten colt , Aiden O’Brien’s Luxembourg is 3 from 3 but quick ground a worry while the stable’s other runner Point Lonsdale won his first 4 before finding Native Trail too hot at The Curragh . Perfect Power is another prolific type who brings strong form to the table and neither is Godolphin’s other runner Coroebus , who looked a far better horse when switching to hold up tactics ending his light season on a high . He was 2 from 3 last year and his only setback came over C&d when he sluiced into the lead , but went a bit early and the massively determined Royal Patronage rallied for a memorable victory . This Longshot is worth a flutter as there’s little early pace in this and sees out the trip really well .

¼ pt   ew Royal Patronage @ 40/1

Selected Goodwood – good to firm on this undulating , sharp and tricky track

1.35 Most of these come here in top form but a bit to prove on quick turf and on a switchback track . Piffle landed a double last season ,one of those being a win over C&D when giving them a start and a beating and with so much early pace in opposition , looks a lovely longshot to nail this late on .

½ pt  ew  Piffle @ 12/1

2.10 The clear form horse is Later Darling , no issues with ground , type of track or trip .

¼ pt  win Later Darling @ 7/2

4.20 All of Shamlah , Lovely Mana and Sir Henry Cotton come here in top form from the all weather , so worth a dabble on Arbor Will , a decent 3rd on his comeback spin and his useful turf form is the crucial factor .

¼ pt  win Arbor Will @ 5/1

Selected Uttoxeter – good ground on this undulating, quite sharp track with a long galloping straight.

2.53 The free going front running Stepney Causeway had it all sewn up at Southwell last time , beating a small but quality field , only to take a so unlucky fall at the last ! He’s up 7 pounds but opposition not that stiff .

½ pt  win Stepney Causeway @ evens

3.30 Francky Du Berlais responded very well to the welcome drop in the ratings with a cracking 4th in Topham over the Aintree fences but over this trip, I prefer the chance of last year’s winner Captain  Tommy , who’s in good form and 2 pounds lower than last year .

½ pt  win Captain Tommy @ 4/1

4.05 The last time we saw Some Day Soon was back in October in a good quality handicap at Aintree on his preferred good ground , to be 3rd in a slowly run race and runs well fresh . He was a close 3rd in this last year off a higher mark and could well appreciate both this C&D and ground more than his rivals . Big odds for his chance .

½ pt  win Some Day Soon @ 11/1

4.39 As both Clemencia and Found On are penalised and both likely to ruin each other’s chance , this could be set up nicely for the well handicapped Shetland Bus, who comes here on the back of an improved effort .

½ pt  win Shetland Bus @ 11/4

No Uttoxeter placepot

Selected Punchestown – good to soft on this undulating and galloping track

2.35 Shady Operator is a very effective cross-country runner and in 6 tries around this track has  3 wins and 3 places . The ground is in his favour and looks a very solid fav as this is more about quantity than quality .

½ pt win Shady Operator @ 7/4

3.50  The former Champion Hurdler Epatante , along with many others , has been in the shadow of wonder mare Honeysuckle for the last few years but when upped to this trip last time out at Aintree- whoosh , back to her very best and despite this being a good field, should  land the odds of 4/5. Happy to watch at those odds .

4.25 The very consistent Popong was a close 3rd in this last year and another good run can be expected as she holds her form very well.

¼ pt  ew Popong @ 6/1

5.00 Vauban is clearly the best juvenile hurdler around and while Fils Dor will give him s good race , as he did at Cheltenham , big rollers are rubbing their hands at 1/3.

No Bet

5.30 British Raider Camprond is certainly shaping like a winner about to happen , an unlucky 4th at Cheltenham in a good field and ran a blinder at the Cheltenham Festival 0n ground too soft , but never stopped trying finishing a most honourable 4th . Remains very well handicapped .

½ pt  win Camprond @ 7/2

Selected Donny – good to firm on this flat and galloping track

4.45 Strong question marks against Tommy De Vito switching to quick turf and up in trip . All of Scottish Summit , the consistent  Farhh to shy and Seven Brothers all come into this is fine form , but as Seven Brothers is very likely to get the run of the race and only a pound higher for his last time win over C&D , will need to be caught by the late players , but off a likely steady pace , the double looks on .

½ pt  win  Seven Brothers @ 5/2

7.35 Irish raider Sweet Mill switches to the flat and comes here on the back of a comfortable win over fences .He’s lightly raced and unexposed on the flat and Gavin Cromwell does well plundering Britain .

½ pt  win Sweet Mill @ 4/1

No Donny placepot good ground on this undulating , galloping and very stiff track

5.15 The consistent Atomic Angel needs much softer ground while Ribeye has flopped over this specialist track in all 3 runs . Johnson’s Blue won here 2 starts back and was a good 2nd off this mark at Newcastle at this trip . Looks a vey solid fav .

½ pt  win Johnson’s Blue @ 5/2

6.50 Hard to see Recent C&d winner Fringill Dike failing to follow up a recent C&D win on good ground despite the penalty in what looks a modest heat .

½ pt win Fringill Dike @ 11/10

7.50 The ultra consistent Irish raider Ellaat is now on a very stiff mark and unproven on a stiff circuit . For Three is a dual C&D winner and ran well In a recent comeback spin behind Paddy The Horse and Malangen , but is still a bit high in the weights. Youngster KoiDodville is a C&D winner , drying ground suits well and only 4 pounds higher for landing a far better race at Cheltenham .

½ pt  win Koi Dodville @ 2/1

8.20 Follow Your Fire has returned recently with two very solid runs , He’s now 3 pounds below his winning mark and course record is a win and 2 places from 4 tries . Looks a good bet in The Lucky Last in a race which wont take much winning .

½ pt win Follow Your Fire @ 9/2
