Today’s multi – 50p ew Trixie & 50p ew treble
Linus Larrabee 4.00 @ 5/1
The Lion Strikes 5.00 @ 7/1
Steel Queen 5.30 @ 7/1
Selected Hereford – very soft ground on this flat and sharp track
12.50 The clear form horse is the Irish raider Caldwell Diamond, proven in the mud and likely to stay this longer trip , but priced accordingly at 1/2. I can’t ignore a play at very long odds on the Nicky Henderson representative Wind Of Fortune , pulled up in two bumpers ! , once when a 6/4 fav and even though his recent 4th over hurdles was a modest effort, it was a step in the right direction , and was staying on well, so maybe softer ground will help . Worth a small dabble at massive odds .
1/4pt ew Wind Of Fortune @ 66/1

Selected Wetherby – very soft ground on this flat and galloping track
2.40 There are a couple of newcomers to hurdling in Dickens, Henry Gray and White Rhino who are all with good stables and well related but this should boil down to a battle between the market leaders in Pembroke , an easy winner in his first bumper and ran well for a long way in his first try over hurdles but preference is for the front running recent bumper winner Magic Wave , proven on the ground and has run to a good level in all 3 bumper runs and is closely related to a 132 rated chaser .
1/2pt win Magic Wave @ 13/8
3.10 Adrimel certainly has the ground in his favour but form figures underline what a risky proposition he has become 4 pulled ups in his last 7 , 2 wins and a decent effort , and last season was pulled up in his comeback spin , and the drop in trip unlikely to help . Compare this to the front running youngster Knickerbockerglory , 5 wins and 2 places in 9 races and despite his chase debut being only a match , it was a true run race , and won impressively . Just 4 pounds higher today , ground no issue and neither should be C&D and likely to land the 4 timer .
1/2pt win Knickerbockerglory @ 6/4
Selected Dundalk – all weather – polytrack
2.00 Claimers are usually for out of form horses who are not running close to their handicap mark , and plenty of those type in this. The exception is the consistent and reliable Rocky Dreams , a regular here and has been acquitting himself well in handicaps. Worst of the draw , but should still run his race , while the vast majority of his opponents won’t be.
1/4pt win Rocky Dreams @ 4/1
2.30 Connections had to go to £120,000 to secure the well related Bataan , who after a reasonable debut effort at Leopasrdstown, made a bold bid for home ,. Some way out here last time , but did too much and tired late on . Well drawn and longer trip likely to suit .
1/4pt win Bataan @ 4/1
2.30 After a close 2nd over C&D and then a good 4th in the Gowran mud, it should be 3rd time lucky for Static Charge in a modest nursery .
1/2pt win Static Charge @ 7/4
3.30 It’s very hard finding anything running well enough to be considered , or even proven at the trip/ surface at around their mark. The exception is the reliable Sondheim , plenty of good runs , including over C&D , but does has the worst of the draw and returns from a 4 months break with no good record running well fresh , but still worth a try in a most winnable race .
1/4pt win Sondheim @ 6/1
4.00 A couple of interesting lightly raced types who go handicapping off a very fair mark considering their efforts here in maidens in Senor Carrots and Khattat but I prefer the chance of recent C&D winner Linus Larrabee , just 2 pounds higher than that win , draw is fine and is up against rivals with poor recent win records .
1/2pt ew Linus Larabee @ 5/1
4.30 Certainly worth a try on the once raced Aces Wild , who’s with an up and coming stable and caught the eye on debut when a running on 7th from the worst of the draw, and this extra furlong will help .
1/4pt ew Aces Wild @ 14/1
5.00 The 4 pound penalty and the drop in trip won’t help recent course winner El C Wells while the front running Victory Wells won’t have the lead to himself , which is far from ideal on his first start for a new stable after leaving the Johnstons after making all at Chelmsford City , when practically gifted the race. Youngster The Lion Strike comes here on the back of a strong finishing 5th of 14 over C&D , not the first time she’s run well of late as she was also a close 5th of 14 at Punchestown , again staying on well. She is closely matched with today’s fav in Tara Power , strongly supported last time over C&D , but not for the first time at this trip , paddled close home, but the handicapper has been generous dropping him 3 pounds but with Wayne Lordan aboard the tip for the first time , looks a very solid ew play .
1/2pt ew The Lion Strike @ 7/1
5.30 I was very much with last time C&D winner Je T’Ai Porte in a modest heat last time , aand pulled away for a clear win , but the 7 pound hit certainly puts him out of his comfort zone . The lightly raced Steel Queen ran a cracker in her first handicap , it coming over C&D , when beaten just a length , coming from way back and will be competitive again today off just a pound higher .
1/2pt ew Steel Queen @ 7/1
