3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Ben Lilly 4.00 @ 7/2
Simply Red 3.00 @ 5/1
Red Force One 7.00 @ 9/4
Selected Southwell – good ground on this flat and sharp track
1.00Sergeant Painter was a facile winner over C&D last time , in the style that a 7 pound hit is likely to be overcome . That was just his 2nd race after a break and over fences and responded well to the switch to hold up tactics .
1/2pt win Sergeant Painter @ 11/10
1.30 The Volian got back on the scoresheet with a good win over C&D and backed that up with a fine 2nd at Hexham off this mark . Plenty of pace on this race which will suit this strong stayer .
1/2pt win The Vollian @ 15/8
2.00 The hat-trick seeking Hell Red is just a pound higher for his recent win and is going to be hard to beat . He drops in trip but this front runner takes on unconvincing rivals .
1/2pt win Hell Red @ evens
2.30 In this seller , the odds on fav is the Paul Nicholls trained Glajou who’s been holding his own in handicaps , without really looking like winning . Overtoyougeorge has been going well in handicaps over C&D and despite having quite a bit to find with the fav on official ratings , could be a bit more determined .
1/4pt ew Overtoyougeorge @ 7/1
3.00 Leopards Rock was a facile winner at Uttoxeter yesterday , off a mark which looked stiff enough and races today under a 7 pound penalty . The consistent Simply Red is preferred after her close 2nd at Bangor last time off around this mark . I’d be a lot more confident if it wasn’t for Donald McCain’s poor record here .
1/4pt win Simply Red @ 5/1
3.30 The combination of the drop in trip and the ease in the ratings , presented Do Ya Feel Lucky with a decent opportunity last time and he front ran his way to an easy win, but could be vulnerable back up in trip and the ratings . Brianna Rose has yet to miss the frame here in 4 tries , but she’s nudged up the ratings and drying ground not perfect . The lightly raced Fenney Brook remains on a workable mark .
1/4pt win Fenney Brook @ 9/2
4.00 You Name Him goes for the hat-trick but was all out last time making the 6 pound hit an issue . Jack of All Shapes was a surprise winner at Uttoxeter last time and despite the big field, nothing has come out to run well since , and he goes up half a mile. Ben Lilly was an 87 rated stayer on the flat and fair to expect better since going up in trip . He was a close 2nd last time off around this mark and today’s extra yardage very much in his favour .
1/2pt win Ben Lilly @ 7/2
Selected Ponty – good to firm on this undulating , stiff and galloping track
1.45 The bang in form Bavardages was a close 2nd over C&d last time out and off just a pound higher is the one to beat in this race for amateur lady jockeys and will be well handled by the vastly experienced Serena Brotherton . Billy Roberts has run some good races and comes here in form but ridden by a very inexperienced jockey . Both Saulire Star and Myboymax come here on the back of wins and are very consistent types but both high in the ratings and the drop in trip a likely issue for both .
1/4pt win Bavardages @ 15/8
2.15 Elegant Erin is 3 from 3 at the minimum trip and had all bases covered when wining over C&D last time , as usual coming off the pace , and the 2nd horse won well at Chester on Saturday . The 6 pound hit looks well manageable.
3/4pt win Elegant erin @ evens
3.15 A very weak low grade handicap and the stand out form horse is the Hughie Morrison trained Wagga Wagga , who does very well making the 350 mile round trip here . He ran very well in his first handicap at Salisbury on quick ground to be 2nd at this trip and fast ground , so this C&D should be fine . Up 3 pounds , but still hard seeing what can stop him .
3/4pt win Wagga Wagga @ 5/4
3.45 All of these come here in top form but the front running Carnival Zain lost little in defeat over C&D last time going down narrowly on the quick ground . 2 pounds higher today and usual hood missing , but still gets the nod . Visibility , who rarely runs a poor one , was a shock 20/1 winner here last time in a hot handicap over a longer trip and a bit to do today with a 5 pound penalty .Grifter is up in the ratings and grade but the consistent Cosmos Raj is likely to run his race and is due a change of luck .
1/4pt win Carnival Zain @ 3/1
4.45 True Mason came into his latest race winless for 4 years and frequent help from the handicapper , made little difference , but all what was needed was a change of scenery and in his first run for Declan Carroll , beat 17 others very well at Donny . Up 7 pounds but still well handicapped on old form so much respected. Slight preference is for the consistent if luckless C&D specialist Round The Island , who’s gone close the last twice . Dream Together is a bit in and out but this C&D winner is on a workable mark if on a going day but Stalingrad , placed in all 4 runs for this stable , but brings a record of 0 from 17 to the table.
1/4pt win Round The Island @ 4/1
Selected Windsor – good to firm on this flat and galloping track, speed track
5.15 The short priced fav is recent winner Dusky prince but despite all of his rivals having something to prove , for a variety of reasons , and despite being well drawn , is 6 pounds higher than his usual mark and would do very well to double up .
6.45 PREMIUM RACE
7.15 PREMIUM RACE
7.45 Devoted Poet is rated a lofty 85 , which actually underestimates him based on two good runs this term and this straight forward type should shed his maiden tag for odds on players .
Selected Musselburgh – good to firm on this flat and galloping track, speed track
6.03 On pedigree , one of the form horses in Doomsday is an unlikely stayer . Without Delay is becoming expensive so giving Thakuri a try , who put in a much improved effort when a decent 4th at Ripon , trying to make all and may just succeed tonight off a 2 pound lower mark .
1/4pt win Thakuri @ 13/2
7.00 Red Force One has been banging on the door of late and this prominent racer looks set for a deserved win , especially with ace 5 pound claimer Ryan Sexton riding . A prominent racer and no issues with trip, ground or mark .
1/2pt win Red Force One @ 9/4
7.30 Plenty of pace in this which should set it up nicely for the late players and the wide draw of the inform Rory should ensure a crucial clear passage . This C&D winner has been holding his form well off around this mark .
1/2pt win Rory @ 5/2
