Sioux Spirit 2.15 @ 22/1

Ted Hastings 5.25 @ 20/1

Midnight Ginger 4.30 @ 3/1

Selected Fontwell – good ground on this sharp track

2.10 The late playing Clearance has dropped back to his last winning mark and there was plenty of encouragement from his recent comeback spin , which came here , but over a longer trip , only beaten two lengths in a far better contest than this . In an ideal world he’d have a strong pace to chase , but all of the field are played late , so it could turn into a sprint , but the tip has plenty of speed and Harry Cobden an eye catching booking .

4.15 The front running Doyens De Ante will make a bold bid again , but is now on a stiff mark and was caught out off this rating last time . The lightly raced and late playing Call Of The Loon went close last time after a break , and previously went close over C&D on good ground and off this mark. Last season he followed up his comeback spin with another good run, so the bounce is unlikely . I’d be more confident but the young jockey is struggling for a winner .

1/4pt win  Call Of The Loon 9/2

4.50 The lightly raced Happy Index won well last time at this trip and on good ground around a sharp track and the double looks on against unconvincing rivals with just a 4 pound hit .

1/2pt  win  Happy Index @ 2/1

Selected The Curragh – good ground on this undulating , stiff and galloping track

2.15 With the vast majority of these more potent either on softer ground or a longer trip , I’m with an unexposed longshot . Sioux Spirit was a good 3rd in a competitive maiden over C&D last season on good ground and landed her maiden next time out and was considered good enough to run in a Group 3 next time , and was only a 15/2 shot in that race. She struggled to make an impact and was aimed at Listed Class first time back this season , but the deep ground was against her , but more encouragement last time when running on well at Cork over the minimum trip . She’s been dropped 3 pounds and the return to this C&D on quickening ground , in her favour .

1/2pt  ew Sioux Spirit @ 22/1

2.45 The very valuable Irish Gold Cup and three very useful types , all closely matched look likely to fight out the finish . A true run race is on the cards with the free going Piz Badile sure to go out hard , and this useful type could cause a shock if allowed too much rope , but the 3 leading contenders are rated 12 superior , so should have his measure late on. The trio of English raider Bay Bridge , French challenger Vadeni and Aiden O’Brien’s Luxembourg , have a habit of beating each other but as the French horse’s team admittedly don’t have him fully wound up as his target is Royal Ascot and Luxembourg disappointed , not for the first time , on his comeback spin , just a dabble on the classy tip.

1/4pt win  Bay Bridge @ 5/2

3.50 The Irish 2000 Guineas and the odds on fav is the British 2000 Guineas narrow runner up in Tahiyra , but Meditate was unsuited to the soft ground that day , and with conditions in her favour , could land an uncompetitive heat .

1/4pt win Mediate @ 9/2

5.25 A wide open stayers handicap and I like the look of another longshot in the consistent and prolific useful hurdler in Ted Hastings , who has run well in two flat maidens , putting him on a workable mark and good ground suits well .

Selected Uttoxeter – good ground on this undulating and sharp track and a long galloping straight .

2.50 Despite carrying a penalty , Ooh Betty looks good to follow up a smart good ground win last time .

1/2pt win Ooh Betty @ 5/6

4.30 Recent winner Park Hill Dancer isn’t on a good mark in his handicap debut and with Kerosine Light returning from a lengthy break, the consistent Midnight Ginger is back down to a good mark and can run these down late on .

1/2pt  win Midnight Ginger @ 3/1

Selected Kelso  – good ground on this undulating and sharp track and a long galloping straight .

4.05 There was money around for Rae Des Champs last time , and the waiting tactics were overcooked as he came very strongly off the pace to be an unlucky and close 4th . Proven at this tricky track and should make no mistake today .

1/2pt  win  Rae Des Champs @ 5/4
