Selected Redcar – heavy ground on this flat and galloping track

1.20 George Boughey has a terrific record in nurseries and Cantora was an easy winner in the Leicester mud last time , but is up 6 pounds, tackles a more benign track and has an extra furlong to travel and there are a handful of rivals running well and could just improve for the deeper ground .

1.55 As the in form Bashful has a clear edge at the ratings and is proven at the trip and ground , looks a penalty kick .

3/4pt win Bashful @ 6/5

2.30 PREMIUM RACE

4.05 Mabre won’t mind the mud and comes here on the back of a respectable 2nd off this mark at Windsor on soft ground , and looks a nice ew play .

Selected Warwick – good to soft on this flat and sharp track

2.05 All of these make their chasing debut and over hurdles , Stage Star and West Cork were rated a lofty 140 & 143 respectably , but despite having a little bit to find on timber ratings , I’m with the prolific front running Skytastic , whose only defeat came in his latest effort , which was an Aintree Grade 1 , for which he was just 11/2 , and in much calmer waters today . Stage Star ended his season with 2 pulled ups while west Cork has a bit to prove at this trip .

1/2pt win Skytastic @ 7/2

2.40 You are always assured of a good run by the prominent racing John Betjeman and despite not being a prolific winner , is a tough battler in the finish , and this not a deep race .

Selected Southwell – all weather – tapeta

1.10 Basinet comes here on the back of 2 big runs at Wolver at this trip and mark and can make it 3rd time lucky in this amateur riders’ race under  a jockey who’s ridden him well before .

1/2pt win Bascinet @ 9/4

1.45 Aztec Empire , a £210,000 purchase ran well in his only race , but that was 14 months ago , and mixed messages regarding tacking  this much longer trip , which makes recent Wolver 2nd at this trip Iftikhaar a good looking bet at the odds .

1/2pt win Iftikhaar @ 3/1

2.20 The short priced fav is recent Haydock 3rd off this mark in Rajwaan , but that was on heavy ground and preference is for C&d specialist Kodi Dancer , a win and a 2nd , and this prominent racer looks a cracking ew play .

1/2pt  ew Kodi Dancer @ 7/1

2.55 Tilsworth Ony Ta has been a bit in and out of late but was denied narrowly over C&D by Primo recently and with the weights in his favour , could land a winnable heat .

1/4pt  ew Tilsworth Ony Ta 8/1

5.00 The very much back to form Griggy has a job on his hooves now 6 pounds higher for landing a winnable heat . Wee Fat Mac comes here on a hat-trick after two good wins at Newcastle but only narrowly got the better of Hilary’s Boy last time , and on 7 pounds better terms , has to be a solid ew play .

1/2pt  ew  Hilary’s Boy @ 13/2

5.30 The ex-Irish Starsong wasted no time getting on the scoresheet for his new home , the Mike Appleby stable with a clear win at Newcastle , but the 6 pound hit will test . The front running Big Impact was only just touched off at Wolver last time and despite being 2 pounds higher , a smart 5 pound claimer is in the saddle today .

Selected Newcastle – all weather – tapeta . The track is stiff and galloping

4.10 A switch to this C&D made all the difference to the long standing maiden Barenboim , with a very easy victory . The 5 pound hit looks manageable but maybe not going up 2 grades and also curious that connections try a first time hood, as he was good without it last time . A chance can be given to many but I like the chance of the consistent Arch Moon , a good 4th in a competitive hear at Ayr on easy ground last time and was unlucky when last seen over C&D , off a 5 pound higher mark .

1/4pt  ew  Arch Moon @ 12/1

4.45 A competitive and good quality nursery , but the short priced fav James McHenry , looks short enough considering what’s he’s achieved in comparison to some of the others. Centre Court impressed last time out over C&d with his attitude , taking them along and battling hard all the way , but suffered a narrow defeat . He stays on the same mark but up in grade and won’t be by himself up front today , which isn’t ideal, but given his C&D form, a good mark and his attitude , worth a dabble .

1/4pt  ew Centre Court @ 7/1

6.15 PREMIUM RACE

6.45 PREMIUM RACE

7.15 One More Dream scooted in over C&D in  his first try here , and despite that being a modest heat , his chances of the double are much respected , despite the 6 pound hit . Macho Pride and Lady Celia have solid chances but the nod goes to the well handicapped Nickleby after  a close 4th over C&D last time .

1/4pt  ew Nickleby @ 7/1

7.45 My Boy Jack has been knocking at the door for some time now , and this late player brings strong C&D form to the table . He is though a 14 race maiden , but this should be his turn , though the bookies are rightly taking no chances .

1/2pt win My Boy Jack @ 6/4
