Selected Newcastle – probably god to soft on this stiff and galloping track

11.55 Cabrakan was a decent type on the flat , rated 77 and did well on his hurdles debut at Exeter on easy ground and finishing well , so this stiff C&D should suit . He’ up against newcomers, most of which were also decent types on the flat , but experience counts for plenty .

1/2pt win Cabrakan @ 2/1

12.30 The lightly raced Captain Quint was an easy winner at Hexham in his chase handicap debut and the longer trip likely to be in his favour , but the ever consistent late playing Broadway Joe ran well , as usual, in his recent comeback run  and preferred at the odds.

1/4pt win Broadway Joe @ 5/1

1.35 PREMIUM RACE

2.10 The valuable Fighting Fifth hurdle and the very short priced fav is the very exciting Constitution Hill , the highest rated hurdler around but the admirably consistent Tommy’s Oscar makes appeal at long odds for a dabble.

1/4pt  ew Tommy’s Oscar @ 22/1

3.25 A cracking finale and the classy L’Homme Presse dips into handicap company and would do very well winning off a lofty mark of 164. Youngster Into Overdrive comes here on a 5 timer , and just 6 pounds higher for yet another easy win last time . Aye Right won this last year off a 6 pound lower mark and comes here on the back of an excellent 2nd at Kelso off this mark in a competitive heat . Should run his honest and good race again .

1/2pt ew  Aye Right @ 6/1

2.57 Stoney’s Choice switches back to hurdles on a good mark and this C&D and ground will both be in his favour .

1/4pt win Stoney’s Choice @ 15/2

3.32 A couple of interesting newcomers in this bumper . Crystal Mer runs for a flat orientated stable , cost £52,000 and is related to a couple of flat horses rated over 100 , while Irish raider Final Decision is also related to some smart types on the flat and the stable does well in bumpers .

1/4pt  win each Crystal Mer @ 15/2  Final Decision @ 7/1, why not , a small rev fc

Selected Newbury – good ground on this flat and galloping track

12.15 The short priced fav is Luccia, unbeaten in two bumpers last year , looking very good in his 2nd win , but both came on deep ground , so a bit to prove on the quick surface . Poetic Music was another useful bumper last season , but her recement win over hurdles was just Ok . She’s A Saint was turned over at 1/4 over C&d fair and square by Carole’s Pass , who should confirm form at the weights and She’s A Saint will again ensure a true run  race galloping off hard from the front . The prolific Letterston Lady makes appeal at the odds, she’s been winning very easily and running to a level good enough to be a contender .

1/2pt  ew  Letterston Lady @ 12/1

1.20 Zanza finally responded to the big drop in the ratings with a fine running on 2nd at Wetherby . Up just a pound , will benefit from the longer trip and he’s 3 from 4 here .

1/2pt win Zanza @ 5/1

1.55 The prolific Petit Tonniere looks overpriced after his close 3rd at Aintree at this trip and mark on his comeback spin .

Selected Bangor – heavy ground on this flat and sharp track

A huge hello to two of my bessies , Rich & Jayne and their bodyguards Callum And Dan

12.23 Crack Du Ninian will welcome the drop in trip , handles the mud and usually not far away .

1/4pt win  Crack Du Ninian

2.38 A modest novice hurdle and recent £70,000 purchase Haveanothergoflo looked good winning his point in the mud

1/2pt win Haveanothergoflo @ 7/4

3.13 The form horse Galante De Romay has stamina doubts so in a poor race , worth a try on the tip , who will stay and handle the mud.

1/4pt win Walk In My shoes @ 3/1

Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta .

Crownthorpe 8.20 @ 7/1

4.20 Moving Clouds is certainly one of the lesser lights of the Godolphin operation and her opening mark is far from generous . Gincident came from way off the pace to be a running on 2nd at Southwell in a competitive heat and this longer trip will suit . Up 2 pounds though and off for 2 months , but still ticks most boxes .

1/4pt win Gincident @ 11/2

4.50 Only a head separated So Many Questions and Great State on their recent debuts over C&D , both coming from some way back and running to a decent level, and hard knowing who’l come out on top tonight  . Soaring Eagle brings decent form to the table  but could have been drawn better , first time on tapeta and drop in trip could catch her out .

No Bet

5.20 The well drawn Yaahobby comes here on the back of a smooth success over C&D and despite a 3 pound penalty , is still very much the one to beat as the able 5 pound claimer Mark Winn takes the ride tonight .

1/2pt win Yaahobby @ 3/1

6.20 The fav is the Godolphin filly Glittering Lights, but badly drawn , down in trip and switches from polytrack. Prefererence is for Rajindri, a good 2nd on her recent debut at Kempton at this trip . Well drawn and the stable does well here .

1/2pt win Rajindri @ 4/1

6.50 Nobody wants to even consider that horse racing is bent and authorities go to extreme lengths to ensure that fair play exists but trainer John Butler has been under the microscope a couple of times , but the fact he still has his license means he must have the benefit of the doubt . He is well known for huge punts on horses who on paper are very hard to fancy and that is the case with the badly out of form Global Warning , pulled up last time and before that running poorly . Quite often his punts don’t come off and cynics believe he’s laying them at short odds, but let’s not get into that . Beattie Is Back has been going well at Newcastle and the return to this longer trip can see her run these down late on and land this modest heat .

1/2pt win Beattie Is Back @ 5/1

7.20 Say Grace doesn’t win many but comes here on the back of two good runs over C&D making her a very lively longshot in a winnable heat .

1/4pt  ew Say Grace @ 20/1

7.50 Not a deep race and looks good for recent C&D 2nd Miss Calculation . Calin Saorise won well over C&D last time and only 3 pounds higher and still on a very good mark on old form , but the stable is going through a torrid time .

1/2pt win Miss Calculation @ 7/4

8.20 Here we go again, another John Butler runner backed off the boards in the badly out of form Brains . He makes little appeal in a competitive heat and you’d be a little bit mad joining in on the gamble at around even money . The admirably consistent and prolific Masqool is just a pound higher than when a close 2nd at Kempton . Proven around here but the drop in trip is an issue . Crownthorpe has dropped in the ratings like a stone and this late player has certainly given signs that he could be ready to strike . Beaten just a length at Newcastle last time , when encountering traffic problems and if securing a clear tonight, capable of running these down. The lightly raced Kaif is certainly interesting striking at Redcar on just her 2nd start and then pushed into Listed Class , when outclassed , but still ran to her mark and the stable has a great record in open age handicaps here .

1/2pt  ew Crownthorpe @ 7/1
