1.00Maketh Believith will have no trouble with the ground and remains on a workable mark but may well need the run returning from a 5 months break . The ground is the issue for recent Donny 2nd Champagne Terri , but as this is her 2nd run after a long absence , likely to bounce . She was beaten 2 lengths by Ghadbbaan , who did well to win dropping in trip and giving them a start and a beating . He’s up 5 pounds but was competitive off similar marks last season and as he stays very well , fair to assume this stiff track will suit and no issue with soft ground .

Selected Southwell – good ground on this flat and sharp track
1.40 Five of these are very well handicapped but just not cutting the mustard at all and it’s best to concentrate upon the two form horses in the revitalised veteran Steel Wave, 2 wins and 3 seconds in his last 5 , including one over C&D on good ground , but a further 6 pound hike makes another success tough , but we know he’ll be trying . Ecossais has a terrific record here , 3 wins and a 2nd in 4 tries and while drying ground may not be ideal . ticks the majority of important boxes .

He’s up 4 pounds , which looks harsh , but has a cracking race make up for a front runner in a field of mostly late players and could take some catching . The prolific pair of Irish Sovereign and Ten Past Midnight remain on workable marks and both are C&D winners on quick ground , and represent the biggest dangers .

Selected Exeter – good to firm on this undulating , galloping and stiff track
1.50 A seller for openers and it looks likely to be a fight between the three market leaders in the ex-Irish An Marcach having his first start for Richard Newland , but quick ground looks a no no for him . Secret Seven ran well twice in this grade on quick ground in the Autumn and looks more of a threat to recent chase winner Ring The Moon , who does have form on fast ground and around here .
