#possible winner in the 1.55

Today’s Fortune for a fiver

50p ew trixie & 50p ew treble

Hashtagmetoo 1.55 @ 9/1

Blazing Son 2.20 @ 7/1

Magical Effect 2.55 @ 16/1

Selected Leicester – good ground on this stiff and galloping track

3.50 A great opportunity for the lightly raced Age Of sail , a close 3rd in a competitive Sandown handicap last time , and generously stays on the same mark , and as a sibling to Group race winner over this trip, looks good for fav backers .

3/4pt win Age Of Sail @ 11/8

4.25 The reliable Whimsy will again try to make all, but is now looking on a stiff enough mark and won’t have the lead to herself with the capable and well handicapped Outside World in the field. D Day Odette ran well enough  in a small field  handicap when 3rd at this trip to give her the nod and preferred over the disappointing Chichen Itza, and the first time visor looks a move of desperation from the top stable whose record using these aids are poor.

1/4pt  win D Day Odette @ 4/1

5.00 Van Gerwen has run some very solid races of late , narrow defeats at Ponty and Beverley off around this mark and the cheekpieces experiment last time has been binned , unsurprisingly after a disappointing effort . Stiff tracks is his thing but would have been more confident with a more positive jockey booking as Ca Hardie has been struggling for  a winner for some time .

1/4pt  ew Van Gerwen @ 10/1

Selected Catterick – soft ground on this undulating and sharp track

1.45 Hurdler Flat White sluiced in over C&D in the mud last time , looking well ahead of the game on the ground and should double up nicely under a smart amateur , but  evens too short for me. Course specialists Myboymax and The Dancing poet both have it to prove on stiff marks , the longer trip and softer ground .

2.20 The 9 race maiden Blazing Son is rarely far away ,  5 places , and 3 of them came on soft ground. He did well last time out when upped to this trip for the first time when a close 3rd at Carlisle. Stays on the same mark and soft ground can only help .

1/2pt  ew  Blazing Son @ 7/1

2.55 Magical Effect is getting no younger but has plummeted to a very low mark and there was definite encouragement from his latest try over C&D when a running on  5th on fast ground . His wide draw is a positive here on soft ground , a surface he handles very well and top track jockey Jason Hart takes the ride .

½ pt  ew Magical Effect @ 16/1

4.00 Mews House has a terrific record both here and on soft ground and just 2 pounds higher than his last win .

1/4pt win Mews House @ 13/2

4.35 This has a very winnable look to it and the well handicapped Lightning Gesture was a respectable 4th here on soft ground a few starts back and can race off 4 pound lower mark today .

1/2pt  ew  Lightning Gesture @ 11/1

Selected Goodwood – soft ground on this undulating , sharp and tricky track

1.55 Plenty of in form types here but  all now on stiff marks for their ability and soft ground unlikely to help . The consistent Hashtagmetoo is rarely far away , well drawn for a prominent racer and also proven at the track and on soft ground . Could be her day .

1/2pt  ew  Hashtagmetoo @ 9/1

Selected Hexham – good ground on this undulating , very stiff and galloping track

4.17 An incredibly uncompetitive novice hurdle and by a long old way, the clear form horse is the Nigel Twiston Davies trained Victorias Peak, who has her first run for the stable , making the 500 mile round trip , and is long odds on , but obviously had her fair share of problems as she has only had one race in each of the last 3 years , not the type you want to go all in on for a quick looking 14%.

4.52 The admirably prolific You Name him notched a hat-trick recently but came unstuck off this mark last time , but still ran a good race . He is 2 from 3 for Rebecca Menzies and ran a good race I his only try here . Slight preference is for the consistent strong staying Bird On The wire , cruelly shoved up 3 pounds for another good run last time but has hit the frame in both runs here .

1/4pt  win Bird On The Wire @ 9/4

6.25 The short priced fav is the successful novice hurdler Onward Route , who is an ex pointer so fences should come naturally and is a winner over hurdles here and on a fair mark going handicapping, but even money first time over fences is short enough so I’m with the prolific First Revolution , 3 wins in his last 5 , proven over C&D and just a pound higher today . The consistent Saint Arvens has it to prove dropping in trip

1/4pt win First Revolution @ 5/2

6.55 Larry Looby is a C&D winner and goes for the 5 timer , but was all out last time , to beat a modest one and despite just a pound penalty , would do well to go in again especially as he won’t have the lead to himself with another massively in form runner in Mah Mate Bob , putting a series of near misses behind him and now goes for a hat-trick , after determined wins at Cartmel, but also goes well here . Just up 2 pounds but the usual visor is curiously missing . Preference is for C&d winner Storm Lorenzo , who gave the massively in form Judge Earle a fright at Uttoxeter , and that one has won since , by a long old way off a much higher mark .

1/4pt  win  Storm Lorenzo @ 7/2
