Selected Worcester – good ground on this flat and galloping track
1.00On the ratings looks a straight match between the ex-Gordon Elliott trained Wall Of Fame , who has joined Donald McCain , but this will be the quickest ground he’s ever encountered and the capable Drumlee Watar , who has the C&D and ground in his favour but does return from a longer break than usual , 3 months , and the stable is pretty quiet . Just a dabble .
1/4pt win Drumlee Watar @ 7/4
1.35 The hat-trick chasing pair of De Barley Basket and Lord Bryan have plenty in common , both front run and both are carrying stiff penalties and with a few others in the field liking to get busy early , these would do well to be competitive again, especially De Barley Basket who’s missing his usual tongue tie . Going through the field, I was finding negatives for practically all so worth trying the rank outsider in Isaac Wonder , a youngster with two chase wins on the board , both off much higher marks but both at 2 miles , but has won at this trip in points . He wasn’t disgraced at Fakenham when 3rd and last time had little chance switching to hurdles and over the minimum trip . I’ve seen worse 50/1 shots .
1/2pt ew Isaac Wonder @ 50/1
3.20 Looks a 3 horse war and the fav is the consistent if frustrating Oceanline, who hasn’t run to his mark of 115 often , but today’s longer trip and switch to the David Pipe stable could see a change of fortune . Both Fat Sam and Tiger Orchid are reliable types but both carry penalties , but the tip does have a good win record .
1/4pt win Fat Sam @ 11/4
3.55 Karenelle has responded well to a complete change of tactics as this once tearaway trailblazer is running better now patiently ridden and the booking of Sean Bowen takes the eye and gets the nod .
1/4pt win Karenelle @ 7/2
4.30 The prolific Pillar Of Steel had a fine time of things last season with 5 handicap wins , 2 over C&D and started his winning spree off a mark of just 82 and his highest winning mark is 108. After a pipeopener at Bangor , when likely to need the run , he bounced back to his best splitting a decent pair over C&D over C&D on ground soft enough , going down narrowly and despite a further 2 pound nudge is preferred over Master Mallachy who was held off this mark last time over C&D finishing an ok 3rd . A good pace is assured which will help this strong traveller .
3/4pt win Pillar Of Steel @ 5/2
5.05 A massive field for this stayers handicap hurdle and quite a few with a chance . I was with Eightytwo Team last time at this trip at Uttoxeter when trying to make all and still held a clear lead until taking a late fall, leaving Gold Leader to pick up the pieces, winning by 19 lengths but does have a 9 pound penalty and previously was just an OK 2nd over C&D off an 11 pound lower mark than today . A strong pace is assured as the consistent Robeam is sure to want to try more but is away from his beloved Southwell . Lessankan is a prolific sort in points and ran very well in a handicap chase at Ffos Las when trying to make all but was no match late on for the very much back to form Judge Earle , who ran very well next time . That was over a much shorter trip and today’s step up in distance very much in his favour. He switches to hurdles and is 5 pounds higher but likely to go with the pace and stay well .
1/4pt win Lessankan @ 6/1

4.45 Yasser has certainly taken off with 2 wins , 1 over C&D , a 2nd on unsuitable soft ground and a most unlucky 2nd last time off this mark at Musselburgh , when just unable to get any racing room at all and when the gap came he flew , but just a neck shy .A good pace is likely for this late player and should set the record straight .
1/2pt win Yasser @ 7/4
5.15 The back to form Flying Moon comes here on a C&D hat-trick and with just a 2 pound penalty , can claim it , especially with both two of the dangers , Victory Star and Tele Red likely to take each other on up front , which wont help their chances and the tip can swoop late .
1/2pt win Flying Moon @ 3/1
Selected Ripon – good ground on this undulating and sharp track
6.45 PREMIUM RACE
7.15 Poet’s Dawn has responded very well to the big drop in the ratings , coming here on the back of two close 2nds. He’s won here before and despite a tricky draw, there’s not much pace about and if securing an early lead , it’s hard seeing what can pick him up .
1/2pt win Poet’s Dawn @ 3/1
7.45 Hard to rule any of these out but at the odds I’m with the back to form Society Red who took advantage of a drop in the ratings to make all over C&D and the 2nd horse has done very well since . Up 4 pounds but an able 5 pound claimer takes the ride . it may not be so easy to lead this field , but if doing so, could cause a mini shock .
1/4pt win Society Red @ 11/1
8.45 A very good friend of mine is one of the owners of Golden Duke , and it was jars out last time when coming late and fast to win grittily at Leicester and with just a 2 pound penalty , proven over C&D and with an ideal strong pace to sit off , the double could be on .
1/4pt win Golden Duke @ 11/4
