Bluella 1.00 @ 16/1
Next Second 1.30 @ 20/1
Buraback 1.55 @ 12/1
Selected Catterick – good to soft on this undulating and sharp track
1.00The fav is the consistent Elzaal, nicely drawn and also proven on soft ground , but a career record of 0 from 17 , leads to looking for an alternative . Bluella is hardly prolific , just 2 wins in 45 ! , but one came over C&D off around this mark , and has been placed here a few times also in relatively few tries . Nicely drawn for a prominent racer and proven on the ground and in a race for apprentices , he’s reunited with Ben Sanderson whose record aboard the tip stands at a win and 3 places from 6 tries . Worth a dabble in a race where fancying many is hard .
1/2 pt ew Bluella @16/1
1.30 Another race where nothing is set in stone and the market fancies are unproven on the ground and this kind of track . I’m with another longshot in Next Second ,who was with the top stable of Roger Charlton last season , but she’s only modest and has been moved on to Ruth Carr , but at £12,000 wasn’t a giveaway . She’s only had two tries in handicaps , the latest coming off this mark when a close 3rd at this trip at Wolver and she has a half sister who’s a proven mudlark . Could shock.
½ pt ew Next Second @ 20/1
3.15 PREMIUM RACE
4.20 Very few in this finale come here with high hopes and this presents one of the more consistent sorts in Thin Lizzy with a good opportunity to break her duck . She ran her best race last season here over the minimum trip in the mud and has since been campaigned at this extra furlong , very much needing this trip as she appears late on the scene and will be running on when most have had enough .
½ pt win Thin Lizzy @ 4/1
Selected Nottingham – probably good to soft on this flat and galloping track
2.15 State Legend is 2 from 2 in handicaps, and just 3 pounds higher for a smooth success at this trip on the Lingfield polytrack. Worth chancing switching to easy ground turf at the odds .
¼ pt win State Legend @ 8/1
2.50 PREMIUM RACE
3.25 a good quality Class 3 sprint and at the ratings , it’s tight between 4 of them , but of these : Mohi has a bit to prove dropping In trip, Mitbaahy on the ground and Papa Don’t Preach far from convincing on his first start for Charlie Hills , winning at 1/8 In a very weak Wolver maiden . Boonie won first time out last year and held his form very well , including a good 3rd in a Group 3 sprint on soft ground and gets the vote .
½ pt win Boonie @ 3/1
4.00 Trueshan ended the season landing a hat-trick , and is now regarded as the best stayer around . Drying ground isn’t ideal and neither is the drop in trip , also carries penalties , but still a shock of this 1/2 shot comes unstuck .
4.30 Not a deep small field handicap and offers a good opportunity for recent Donny winner Arthur’s Realm to double up despite the 3 pound hit. His win came in a decent race on this kind of ground .
½ pt win Arthur’s Realm @ 5/2
5.00 Despite the big field few can be seriously fancied and plenty of these are switching from the all weather , with no History of being proven on soft turf . The consistent yet frustrating Distinction is the exception as he’s running his race , as usual , proven at the trip and on the ground . Could be his day .
½ pt ew Distinction @ 8/1
Selected Lingfield – all weather – polytrack
1.55 Quite a few dark horses going handicapping on what look very fair marks , and a couple already proven over C&D and in handicaps. Golden Spice has run 3 massive races this season, going out to make all , and succeeding twice , and last time was chinned a short head ,the last two runs being over C&d. The handicapper has bunged her up 3 pounds and besides that has the worst of the draw and other front runners to worry about , so regretfully passed over . Buraback has 2 wins over C&D and this well drawn late player has a good race make up with plenty of early pace . He’s up 3 pounds , but did win well last time and Johnny Egan , who rode him very well keeps the ride . Nice longshot .
½ pt ew Burabank @ 12/1
2.25 PREMIUM RACE
3.00 Most of these are having difficulty getting their noses in front , and even the last one to win a race , Independence Lady is more potent on tapeta and a longer trip. Hey Ho Let’s Go has been cut some slack by the handicapper and showed last time that he doesn’t have to lead to run his race , doing well to be 4th at Kempton . He runs this C&D very well and has an able 7 pound claimer in the saddle. Not well drawn , but this will take little winning .
½ pt win Hey Ho Let’s Go @ 8/1
3.35 Professional loser Protective Guest has recently lost that tag and comes here with 2 wins in his last 4 , and as usual , rarely far away but is held by Pirate King on recent C&D form . Not much early pace in this and only a dabble .
¼ pt win Pirate King @ 10/3
5.10 I was with Queen of Burgundy quite strongly here last time over 7 furlongs as I expected her to obtain an easy lead , which never happened , so in the circumstances did well to plug on into 3rd , just behind Cool Vixen , but another chance to dominate and she stays this longer trip better than her main rival .
½ pt win Queen Of Burgundy @ 11/4
Selected Kempton – all weather – polytrack
4.55 Newcomer Doux Esprit runs in famous colours for a top stable and great things are expected as he cost a cool £320,000 . Could repay a fraction tonight .
¼ pt win Doux Esprit @ 9/2
5.30 Gone a similar way with this one as Archiano cost £140,000 and runs for a stable expert at preparing juveniles to be ready first time .
¼ pt win Archiano @ 9/4
6.00 Some very much in form and progressive 3yos and the even money fav is recent Chelmsford City winner Jungle Run , who demolished his rivals down in trip , making all , and going like the clappers all the way. This longer trip is actually in his favour , and the 6 pound hit could be mighty generous . Above It All and Major Gatsby both won well last time but appear to lack the scope of the fav while recent Lingfield 3rd Naughty Nadine will find this a much tougher examination . The late playing Fat Gladiator has been arriving too late on the scene , but was a close 3rd over C&d recently and with a strong pace assured , if anything can beat the fav it’s him , but still happy to watch .
6.30 Magicinthemaking has developed her own ideas about the game , but is always capable , especially around this C&d and popped in last time at long odds , from a similar bad draw, beating a couple of very reliable yardsticks and if in the same mood could well double up in this winnable heat up just a pound. I just favour a long standing maiden , the hold up Gonzaga , rarely far away , and last season put in a series of 5 seconds and a 3rd ! , narrowly beaten a few times . Nicely drawn , in form and this could be his day .
¼ pt ew Gonzaga @ 12/1
7.00 PREMIUM RACE
8.00 The prolific front running Proclaimer is 5 from 6 at this venue and looking at his rivals racing styles , he is the fav to take them along again and is just 2 pounds higher for his last win but I give the nod to another course specialist in Lafan , 2 wins and a 2nd in 3 tries here and just a pound higher for his narrow defeat last time . He has a great record returning from a 50 day break, and it’s that mark tonight . Nicely drawn and taken to stay the best .The admirably consistent Coase will as usual be played late but this trip is short enough on polytrack.
½ pt win Lafan @ 11/4
