3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble
Granny Budgie 4.00 @ 5/2
Out Of Sight 6.25 @ 3/1
Marajman 6.05 @ 11/4
Selected Beverley – soft ground on this stiff and galloping track
3.10 The consistent Fifty Sent remains on a workable mark and is fine on stiff tracks . Handles good to soft and at the odds worth a try on deeper ground .
1/4pt win Fifty Sent @ 7/1
3.45 A stack of early pace about which could set things up nicely for the well handicapped Wade’s Magic , a strong finishing 3rd at Carlisle , dropping to this trip and softer ground today will help .
1/4pt ew Wade’s Magic @ 15/2
4.20 Insolente goes off at a right rate of knots and is well drawn to stretch this field . She handles good to soft but softer is an unknown , but is a C&D winner and worth risking . Jazzagal did well last time out when a running on 2nd over C&D last time , but is another who has a first try on deep ground .
1/4pt win Insolente @ 6/1
5.25 It’s understandable that the in form mud loving Look Back Smiling is a warm order at 5/4 , bringing such strong form into the event and ticking plenty of boxes , but I can pass at 5/4 in a big field handicap .
No Beverley placepot picks
Selected Lingfield – polytrack the first 3 races , turf the last 4 where the going is good to firm on an undulating and sharp track
2.15 The short list is very long with all of Chagall, Lisdarragh , Moosme , Nivelle’sMagic and Mysterious Maestro all bringing recent C&D form , good enough to give them clear chances but you don’t see many from the top Crisford stable off a mark of just 57 and he ran well enough last time to be bang there .
1/4pt win Mysterios Maestro @ 10/3
3.25 Devizes is a bit long in the tooth to suddenly improve massively and his recent demolition job at Kempton was a headscratcher and the 7 pound hit looks a stopper . The reliable Bit Harsh is a dual winner on this surface, remains on a fair mark and shapes like this longer trip will suit .
1/4pt win Bit Harsh @ 9/4
4.00 The fav is recent Newbury 4th Rogue Rosie , who was fav to win at the first time of asking but tied up late on , but ran to a decent level , but has the worst of the draw today . Clear preference is for recent debut winner Granny Budgie , who gave 9 others a start and a cosy beating . Well drawn and Billy Loughnane takes 3 pounds off her penalty .
1/2pt win Granny Budgie @ 5/2
4.35 A chance can be given to all 5 but the nod goes to recent C&D winner Ice Cool Harry , whose win puts him on a workable mark in his first handicap and this prominent racer is proven on quick ground .
1/4pt win Ice Cool Harry @ 11/4
5.05 All was needed for Eight Mile to get back on the winning trail was a drop back to this trip, winning easily at Brighton on fast ground , but the 6 pound hit will test as will racing from the worst of the draw. The prominent racing hat-trick seeking Lahina Bay makes more appeal from a good draw and could be up to the 4 pound hit .
1/4pt win Lahina Bay @ 11/2
Selected Nottingham – soft ground on this flat and galloping track
6.25 The nicely drawn Out Of Sight is unlikely to have competition for the lead , always very useful for a front runner , and comes here on the back of a soft ground win at Beverley , making all in gutsy fashion . He’s just 2 pounds higher and an able 3 pound claimer takes the reins tonight . He’s run well on similar tracks and will take a bit of catching . I am part owner of the luckless mare Ivy Avenue , 4 runs this season and 4 seconds . This trip looks on the sharp side but I have to have a saver , for loyalty sake .
1/2pt win Out Of Sight @ 3/1
8.00 The short list is very long , with at least half a dozen of these coming here in form good enough to take a hand . The admirably consistent prominent racing Refuge is up another 3 pounds but that won’t stop him running his race and the ground should be Ok ,
1/4pt ew Refuge @ 12/1
8.30 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Southwell – good ground on this flat and sharp track
5.35 PREMIUM RACE
6.05 In a very uncompetitive event , the reliable course winner Marajman should nail another win .
1/2pt win Marajman @ 11/4
6.35 The prolific youngster , Go On Chez , 6 wins from 11 chase runs , started his winning spree off a mark of just 78 , and this late player now races off a lofty 127 ,up a further 5 pounds for running another prolific sort in Kimondo Kwetu close at Aintree . Just has the edge over the hat-trick seeking Wick Green .
1/4pt win Go On Chez @ 7/4
8.10 Quite a competitive finale but the nod goes to the luckless Betty’s Belle , 2nd in her last two races , the most recent closing strongly over C&D . Up two pounds but still preferred .
1/4pt win Betty’s Belle @ 5/2
