Selected Haydock – soft ground on this flat and galloping track

1.35 The lightly raced Gannon Glory won very well at Ponty on just his 2nd ever race and backed that up with a big effort when a close 3rd at Donny carrying a penalty . He’s the likely front runner and handles easy ground . He is a half brother to a few useful types so fair to expect improvement , but his current level of form is good enough to see him right in the mix. It’s hard to knock Sir Henry Cotton, who was slow to break his duck , but has now won 4 of his last 7 and coms here on a hat-trick but is a massive 11 pounds higher than his win on soft ground .

1/2pt  win Gannon Glory @ 7/1

2.05 PREMIUM RACE

2.40 Free Wind did little wrong last season , 4 wins from 5 starts showing plenty of desire for the win and has a huge chance at the ratings , with only Eshaada a threat at the weights , but she is very hard to predict . The tip won first time out last season and the dame loved the ground softer the better and this prominent racer can start begin where she left off .

3/4pt  win Free wind @ 3/1

3.15 The very valuable Old Newton Cup and the short priced fav is the 5 timer chasing Glassee who is 7 pounds higher for a win at York at this trip, but none of the placed horses have done anything of note since , but soft ground suits and William Haggas’ last 6 runners here have yielded 5 wins and a very close 3rd , and he rates this horse far better than a handicapper , we shall see. Fancy Man has his first ever race in a handicap and is ultra consistent , 4 wins and 6 places from 12 tries and his last try on  turf was in a small field at Windsor in a Group 3 when just touched off by the classy Solid Stone at this trip  and in 3 runs on soft ground has 2 wins and a place . Group horse in a handicap ?? Worth trying at the odds .

Selected Sandown – good ground on this stiff and galloping track

1.50 The progressive Mitbaahy looks good for the hat-trick and last time out gave them a start  and a beating in The scurry Cup over C&D . A good pace is expected for this late player and David Egan rides him very well . Raasel is another progressive young sprinter and a credit to connections , 7 wins from his last 9 , but his latest win at Haydock really dropped his way , and the placed horses have done little for the form since and previously was a well held 2nd in a handicap off a mark of just 101 .

1/2pt win Mitbaahy @ 11/4

2.25 Sinjaari is a top notch handicapper and a deserved win can come his way in what looks a very winnable heat . I was with him at Royal Ascot in the Royal Hunt Cup and was travelling powerfully just behind the leaders and I was urging jockey Richard Kingscote to go forward , but he waited and waited and when unleashed , the birds had flown and he finished a most unlucky 5th of 29 . He’ll have a strong pace to chase and will be bombing it up the hill .

1/2pt  win sinjaari @ 5/2

3.35 PREMIUM RACE

4.10 The recent winners Forest Falcon and Chairman both have stiff penalties and the latter has a bad draw and this trip could be sharp enough on drying ground . Electric Storm was another last time winner , sluicing home at York, but besides the 9 pound hit , that was his first run for 18 months so the bounce factor could apply . Aldaja can be relied to run his race and despite nudged up the ratings and going up in trip ,should again be in the thick if things .

1/4pt  ew  Aldaja @ 15/2

4.45 youthful King has been knocking on the door and took advantage of a nice drop in the ratings to win well at Windsor . he previously ran a solid race over C&D when 4th off a pound lower and from a good draw , another likely to be bang there at nice odds .

Selected Beverley – good to firm on this stiff and galloping track

4.05 The late playing Casilli has a terrific record at this track and just a pound higher for a narrow defeat when last seen over C&D.

1/4pt win Casilli @ 8/1

4.40 A strong pace is assured which brings the very well handicapped Zihaam into the equation . He’s getting no younger but takes a welcome drop in grade and a 4 pound drop in the ratings .

Selected Leicester – probably good to soft ground on this stiff and galloping track

3.55 Misscall dug in deep to prevail at Newmarket and is just 2 pounds higher and proven on soft so clear chance and you can’t leave out the luckless Falesia Beach , close up in thar race and has a pull in the weights , I prefer the chance of the lightly raced Sweet Glance who gave them a start and a beating over C&D on similar ground . Up 4 pounds, but she did do it well .

1/4pt win sweet Glance @ 4/1

4.30 Magical Mile and Dundory are penalised for recent wins which offers the front running MR Zee , another decent chance . He runs this C&D well and his runs on easy ground have been pretty good .

1/4pt win Mr Zee @ 9/2

5.00 The late playing Divine Magic has been knocking on the door of late and with a good pace likely , could gain reward today .

1/4pt  win Divine Magic @ 3/1

6.05 Quite an open finale but fair to expect a customary good run from the consistent Girl In the Picture , just a pound higher for her recent win and neither the C&D nor ground should hold any terrors .

Selected Carlisle – good to soft on this undulating , stiff and galloping track

5.50 The fav is the back to form Corinthia Knight , who was an Ok 4th at his beloved Ponty last time , so a chance this stiff C&D could suit but in this race for apprentice jockeys is ridden by young Taylor Fisher , who is 0 from 18 ! The C&d winner Redrosezorro has run some good races of late off this mark and ground and has one of the best jockeys in the field in Oisin McSweeney . Yukon Mission is now on a stiff enough mark , but rarely far away . He goes well here , likes the ground and the excellent Ryan Sexton takes the ride . Fc pick .

1/2pt   ew  Redrosezorro @ 7/1 1/4p  rev fc Redrosezorro & Yukon Mission

7.20 Hot Scoop has been knocking on the door of late and runs a stiff track well and the booking of star 5 pound claimer Ryan Sexton could do the job.

1/2pt  win Hot Scoop @ 7/2

7.50 I believe very much in the adage that “ God loves a trier “ and perseverance will finally reward so it could well be a big night for a long standing maiden , 0 from 23 but 2nd in his last 4, the latest off this mark . No issues with the ground or C&D and the booking of able 5 pound claimer Cameron Howarth could see an overdue and deserved visit to the Winners’ Circle .

1/4pt win Hostelry @ 10/3

8,20 Detective failed to hit the frame for the first time in 11 tries here , but is now on a stiff mark and this big drop in trip can’t help . Jackhammer likes it here and won nicely last time but a 3 pound hit will test . Global Spirit was a determined all the way winner at Ponty recently off this mark and the placed horses have run very well since . He’s run well In subsequent outings despite being badly drawn. He runs this C&D very well and the booking of able 5 pound claimer Jonny Peate , no bad thing .

8.30 The well drawn At Liberty is rarely far away and a deserved win can come his way with mark, trip and ground all fine .
