Miss Down Under 2.35 @ 13/2

Kodi Dancer 6.15 @ 5/1

Desert Land 8.15 @ 7/2

Selected Newbury – soft ground on this flat and galloping track

Easy move swerving the first 3 races, all juvenile maidens , as few have encountered ground as soft as this and each race also have interesting newcomers .

2.35 The front running Miss Down Under is likely to have her own way up front and could well land the hat-trick . She is proven on soft ground and despite being 5 pounds higher than last , she had Wisper 3 lengths behind and that one has gone on to win easily since and backed that up with a very good 2nd under a penalty .

1/2pt  win Miss Down Under @ 13/2

4.20 Louie De Palma won this last year on similar ground , and off a pound higher . He’s getting no younger so his races are carefully chosen and shaped up encouragingly last time , his first race since January . He’s one of a handful of front runners , which won’t help . but another good run likely .

1/4pt  ew  Louie De Palma @ 14/1

Selected Donny – very soft ground on this flat and galloping track

Easy move swerving the first 4 races, all juvenile maidens , as few have encountered ground as soft as this. These are succeeded by two small field handicaps, which both present puzzles tough to solve .

4.38  It’s understandable that recent very easy soft ground Nottingham winner First Officer is a warm order , as he made all to succeed in effortless fashion . He is though a hefty 8 pounds higher , but finally has found ideal conditions and racing style, but 11/8 plenty short enough .

Selected Cheltenham – good ground on this undulating ,stiff and galloping track

1.35 The 5 timer seeking Soul Icon is only one of any number of front runners and this could well be fought out by the late players. The consistent Castel Gandolfo is rarely far away and despite now racing on a stiff enough mark , holds his form well and crucially has an excellent 2nd in a bigger field over C&D on his cv .

1/2pt  ew  Castel Gandolfo @ 9/1

2.10 The highest rated pair in this novice chase are the two Irish raiders , but as the progressive Ash Tree Meadow would prefer a longer trip, the front running Sole Pretender looks very long odds to prevail . Could have the front to himself and be hard to catch. He is new however to this unique track .

1/2pt  win Sole Pretender @ 7/1

2.45 Saint Risquier did disappoint lasttime when fav In a Cartmel handicap, but won’t be the first ever to underperform at that unique Cumbria venue , and his overall form gives him every right to be bang there in what looks a winnable novices hurdle . He’s fit from a decent effort on the flat and hit the frame in his only try here .

1/2pt  ew Saint Risquier @10/1

3.20 Full of prolific types and presents a right old puzzle .

3.55 The very wonderful Coole Cody landed two big handicaps here last season , one a remarkable never say die effort at The Festival . He warms up for his season with a pop over hurdles , and ran well in this last year , but is effectively 11 pounds higher and preference is for the consistent Seddon , now trained in Ireland , and ran well for his new stable last time and has run well here in the past .

1/2pt  ew Seddon @ 9/1

4.30 Jimmy The Digger was hard to knock last year and got off the mark at the first attempt , so the absence unlikely to be an issue. He is however new to this unique track , but this  is more about quantity than quality .

1/2pt  ew Jimmy The Digger @ 9/1

5.05 Petrossian is interesting as he has his first run for Nicky Henderson and wears a first time hood, both positives and of those with experience over hurdles , is up with the best .

1/4pt  ew Petrossian @ 8/1

Selected Newcastle – all weather – tapeta . The track is stiff and galloping

4.43 The short priced fav is the hat-trick seeking Golden Shot , who runs for Sir Mark Prescott , the master of readying a 3yo for a prolific season . Both wins came on tapeta , and wasn’t hard pressed either time and the 8 pound hit looks manageable , especially as this longer trip and stiffer track are in his favour , but does go up in grade , and there are alternatives in this . The very wonderful mare Infiniti , 5 wins and a 2nd this season , is not out of this off a 4 pound higher mark and has won on tapeta before and proven on the trip but I’m with track regular Hackberry , a win and a close 2nd in his last two runs over C&D , and stays on the same mark . This prominent racer goes up in class, but still should make his presence felt .

1/2pt ew Hackberry @ 8/1

5.45 An uncompetitive juvenile maiden and the best form is brought to the table by the fav Azure Angel , a decent 3rd at Yarmouth , but as Star Sound was well supported in his debut race , which came over C&D , and was a running on 2nd, gets the call.

1/4pt win Star Sound @ 7/2

6.15 Kodi dancer runs this trip well on tapeta , with a win and a close 2nd at Southwell , and stays on the same mark and as he stays further , this stiffer circuit should suit .

1/2pt win Kodi Dancer @ 5/1

8.15 Desert Land has certainly taken off since joining Keith Dalglish , especially here as he’s 2 wins and a place in 4 tries , the unplaced effort coming In a very hot Class 3 handicap . He ran an absolute cracker last time coming 2nd and can race off a 2 pound lower mark ! but does drop in trip, but as he’s won easily over C&D , remains the one to beat . Expect a usual prominent ride .

3/4pt win Desert Land @ 7/2

Selected Dundalk – all weather – polytrack

5.00 The clear form horse is the luckless Eglish , 3 close 2nds here in his last 3. He has every chance of success at the weights and this SHOULD be his day , but we do say this frequently and of late has a rotten win record , but saying that , has a very clear chance .

1/4pt  win Eglish @ 9/4

5.30 A very winnable typical Dundalk low grade handicap. War Hero is not the horse he was, but shaped up better last time and the 3 pound ease and the booking of capable 4 pound claimer gives plenty of hope for a 7th course win .

1/4pt  ew  War Hero @ 9/1

6.00 Track regular Tai Sing Yeh has been done no favours by the draw but does have some good form over C&D , which makes him worth a try at long odds .

1/4pt  ew Tai Sing Yeh @ 16/1

7.30 A quality sprint and the bookies have been knocked over in the rush , as UK raider, The  highway Rat , Pirate Jenny and funny Money Honey all sure to blast out and this will go to a finisher , the likely candidate being recent C&D very close 2nd, the back to form Logo Hunter .

1/4pt win Logo Hunter @ 9/2

8.00 The lightly raced Western Cape did little wrong here last time finishing a running on 4th , running to a very decent level , is well drawn , and this longer trip looks a smart move .

1/2pt ew Western Cape @ 10/1
