Today’s Fortune for a fiver
50p ew trixie & 50p ew treble
Glan Y Gors 3.40 @ 12/1
Demi Sang 4.47 @ 15/2
Dubai Jewel 8.10 @ 16/1
Selected Donny- good to firm on this flat and galloping track
1.00There’s been plenty of money for C&D winner Hail Sezer , but he’s been unconvincing this season . I’d prefer a little ew dabble on the consistent After John , who struggled in the mud last time , but previously had gone close in big field handicaps . He’s now on a stiff enough mark , but unlikely to be far away .
1/4pt ew After John @ 10/1
2.10 With the exception of Frog and Toad , who is now on a demanding mark , all of these are struggling to get their noses in front , but usually not far away . Rum Runner started the season with a length 2nd over C&D on quick ground , and off 3 pound lower , looks a nice play .
1/4pt ew Rum runner @ 11/1
2,45 Nietzsche’s Star goes for the hat-trick but is 6 pounds higher and up in grade . Maytree Respite ran a cracker over C&D last time in a competitive maiden , doing well to finish 4th carrying the dreaded penalty , a run which puts him on a workable mark .
1/4pt win Maytree Respite @ 15/8
4.30 The consistent Eruption is still just 2 pounds higher than his win and certainly worth pursuing at this longer trip and his good 4th over C&D last time out came in higher grade .
1/4pt win Eruption @ 5/1
Yarmouth – good to firm on this flat and galloping track
4.05 Quick ground is likely to catch out one of the form horses in Colombe but decent chances have to be given to three other in form contenders in the front running but up in grade Grandfather Tom, the well handicapped High Velocity and class dropper Thegreatestshowman , and the latter gets the nod .
1/4pt win Thegreatestshowman @ 10/3
Selected Cartmel – good to soft on this unique track . sharp and undulating .
1.55 The prolific Hunter Chaser Grageelagh Girl lost her victory last time here in The Stewards Room , rightfully so as she lost a weight cloth , but it was in the very latter part of the race and she was coasting home . Fern O’Brien keeps the ride and the softer ground is no issue , and neither should be the switch back to hurdles , and on a very fair mark .
1/4pt win Grageelagh Girl @ 3/1
3.40 Mah Mate Bob has run two massively determined races in both runs over C&D , but today will have plenty of company up front which will help the late playing Glan Y Gors, weighted to finish alongside Mah Mate Bob and softer ground no issue .
¼ p tew Glan Y Gors @ 12/1
4.15 Plenty of in form runners here but the nod goes to in form Loughermore a good 2nd over C&D last time but up a nasty 4 pounds . Won’t mind softer ground .
1/4pt win Loughermore @ 11/2
4.47 Plenty was expected of Demi Sang on his first run for Micky Hammond as he was a short priced fav in a steadily run race but with the prospect of a true run race today and with any further deterioration in the ground in his favour . Lovely ew play .
1/2pt ew Demi Sang @ 15/2
Selected Newcastle- all weather – tapeta . The track is stiff and galloping
5.30 PREMIUM RACE
6.00 PREMIUM RACE
6.35 The Valuable Class 2 sprint handicap , The Gosforth Park Cup , and it’s as competitive as ever . A strong pace is assured with Dakota Gold sure to bomb out , which he’s done before in this race, but he’s far better over an extra furlong , and he’s likely to string them along , lose his pitch as the race warms up and stay on again . He has place potential but there are others who will be putting it to him early on such as Fernando Rah , Digital and recent winner Copper Knight , who is looking a bit high in the ratings , but has run well in this before . The reliable Makanah is also now high in the ratings, after two excellent seconds and another concern is that he has a rare run on synthetics . Saluti has a terrific record over C&D and this late player has a cracking race make up and his preparation looks geared towards this . He went close off this mark last time .
1/4pt ew Saluti @ 7/1
Selected Newmarket – good ground on this undulating , stiff and galloping track
5.15 Plenty here wearing famous colours for top stables and also carrying fancy price tags . I’m with Royal Charter , who runs for the Haggas stable. He didn’t come cheap as a yearling £85,000 , and that looked small potatoes as he his value rocketed to £240,000 as a 2yo , often a very good sign .
1/4pt win Royal Charter @ 11/2
5.50 Certainly worth a try on Big Bear Hug , whose best ever run came at this trip in a Nottingham handicap when 3rd beaten just 2 lengths by Phantasy Mac , who is now holding his own off a higher mark .
1/4pt ew Big Bear Hug @ 20/1
7.00 PREMIUM RACE
8.10 The short priced fav is the hat-trick seeking and very lightly raced Origintrail , but she was all out to prevail last time and the rise in grade and the 7 pound hit both negatives . Dubai Jewel is a bit in and out but nothing wrong with his front running 4th at Goodwood beaten just a length making his odds very generous for his chance .
1/2pt win Dubai Jewel @ 16/1
Selected Chester – good ground on this flat and very sharp track . A low draw and often a prominent ride are advantages on this course .
5.40 The fav is recent Carlisle winner Manaslu , but this is very different track and his win came on soft ground , so could well find things happening a bit quick around here , but he is a well drawn prominent racer . The consistent Liangel Hope has the best of the draw and also likes to race front rank , but is now on a stiff mark and grade . Preference is for the reliable Golden Sands who backed up a demolition job at Wolver with a good 2nd at Goodwood off this mark . He too likes to race prominently but also stays well .
1/2pt win Golden Sands @ 7/2
6.50 The bang in form Sir oliver is well drawn and despite his latest win coming on polytrack , his turf form is none too shabby and is on a manageable mark . Roundhay Park won over C&D last season on this kind of ground and off a 2 pound higher mark . Form this season has been indifferent , but from the best of the draw , a nice ew play.
1/4pt ew Roundhay Park @ 8/1
7.25 Vazire backed up a surprise win in a maiden here with a good 4th at Sandown . Is bred for this longer trip and could try and make all.
1/2pt win Vazire @ 7/4
8.00 The prolific Brains is the one to beat at the ratings and with chief danger , Liberation Point , far more potent over a longer trip , the well drawn tip looks good to make all to the delight of fav backers .
1/2pt win Brains @ 6/5
8.35 After a decisive win at Salisbury , Box To Box , did little wrong at Epsom last time finishing a good 5th in a hot handicap . He’s likely to be front rank throughout and stays very well . Another nice fav to end the night . Not a deep contest
1/2pt win Box To Box @ 6/4
