£1 trixie & £1 treble
Buto 1.05 @10/3
Sir Jack West 2.00 @ 11/4
Derrachin 4.05 @ 2/1
Selected Epsom – good to firm on this undulating , sharp and tricky track
12.50 This race has a winnable look to it as the two horses in best form , the consistent Kolsai and the front running Marie’s Diamond have a job on their hooves to match the other four on official ratings . With Marie’s Diamond sure to go a strong gallop , it will set things up nicely for the capable late playing Escobar , who showed a bit more like it last time and has run respectably in this race for the last two years.
1/2pt win Escobar @ 10/1
1.30 The Derby and it could well be the double for the combination of The Gosdens and Frankie Dettori , in his final Derby , after yesterday’s comfortable success by Soul Sister in The Oaks . He’s bang up there with the best of these on official ratings and doesn’t know what it is to run a bad race and his prep run turned out to be an annihilation job in The Chester Vase , proving his stamina for today’s test . That run came on soft ground , but has run his race on firm and this prominent racer ticks the most boxes .
1/2pt win Arrest @ 9/2
2.10 There are question marks about most of these in terms of current form and the improved Astral Beau won’t have her preferred soft ground . Roman Mist has been a most progressive and prolific type in the last two seasons , and was a good 3rd in this last season. She has been sold recently to the good stable of Archie Watson , coming from , fair to say , a lesser stable and she wasted no time getting off the mark with an all the way , ultra determined as ever , win at Goodwood on unsuitable heavy ground . Today’s quicker ground will suit and as she is tactically versatile , could well land this at rewarding odds .
1/2pt win Roman Mist @ 6/1
2.45 PREMIUM RACE
3.20 The Epsom Dash , across the world’s quickest 5 furlongs , and as usual a stack of early pace and I’m going for a well handicapped sort to come off the pace to nab it . Zarzyni has responded to the drop in the ratings and wasn’t far away at York last week , and generously eased another 2 pounds .
1/2pt ew Zarzyni @ 16/1
3.55 PREMIUM RACE
5.05 Badri has made rapid strides of late and has showed he is just as effective on quick turf . With a stack of early pace around , this could fall just right for this late player .
1/2pt ew Badri @ 11/1
Selected Hexham – good ground on this undulating , galloping and very stiff track
1.05 Buto finally broke his duck last time finding this C&D and ground his optimum conditions . He won as he pleased and in a modest heat the double very much looks on .
3/4pt win Buto @ 10/3
3.30 The front running Lights Are Green goes for the hat-trick , but was all out to get the better of No Regrets over C&D , and with a 9 pound pull , looks good for revenge
1/2pt win No Regrets @ 2/1
4.05 Derrachin was another to break his duck last time finding the C&D , ground and the switch to fences optimum conditions , and in a modest heat , looks let in lightly with just a 4 pound hit .
3/4pt win Derrachin @ 2/1
Selected Musselburgh – good to firm on this flat and galloping track
1.50 PREMIUM RACE
2.30 A seller , but a very valuable one, hence a number of OKm juveniles compete . The clear form horse is recent Donny 2nd Sankari , who did well carrying his penalty , and should have no problems against a lesser field .
1/2pt win Sankari 9/4
3.40 PREMIUM RACE
4.50 Canaria Prince comes here in decent form , has dropped to his last winning mark and this dual C&D winner has the ground in his favour and can get the better of the gambled on last time Laakhof , who made all at Catterick but only just clung on , making the 4 pound hit problematical .
1/4pt win Canaria Prince @ 5/2
No Musselburgh placepot
Selected Worcester – good ground on this flat and galloping track
2.00 In just his 2nd start over fences , Sir Jack West came off the pace to win with ease over C&D , and the 6 pound hit may well not stop him .
3.4pt win Sir Jack West @ 11/4
No Worcester placepot
Selected Donny – good top firm on this flat and galloping track
4.00 A very open and valuable Class 2 handicap but the reliable Rathgar did well in a competitive York handicap when 3rd , giving the impression , this trip would suit well, .
1/2pt ew Rathgar @ 6/1
4.35 Pledge Of Honour was most prolific and progressive last season . Still looks on a workable mark , C&D suits as does the ground and will have come on for his recent comeback spin .
1/4pt win Pledge Of Honour @ 4/1
No Donny Placepot
Selected Lingfield , first two races polytrack , other races turf . Good to firm on an undulating and sharp track . On fast ground on the straight course , high numbers have a big advantage
5.35 The lightly raced Gallimimus was very well backed to win in his first handicap at Leicester, and followed up over the same C&D , the next day with a 5 pound penalty . Up another 6 pounds and switches back to polytrack , on which he hasn’t shaped up well at all , and this is a very different track from Leicester , and the draw could have been kinder . Saying that he may well follow up in a modest heat but I’d rather have a play on C&D regular Recurdeme , back down to his last winning mark and the wide draw shouldn’t be a hindrance for this late player.
1/4pt ew Recurdeme @ 18/1
6.10 Citizen General certainly knows where the winning line is with 3 wins in his last 5 , the latest coming over C&D, off a 5 pound lower mark . He was behind Appier at Newcastle on similar terms but as this one’s stable can’t buy a winner of late , in a winnable heat , chancing the tip can overcome the stiff penalty .
1/4pt win Citizen General @ 4/1
7.10 Gone got back on the scoresheet with a fine win at Carlisle , first time at this trip . He’s well drawn to get on “ The Golden Highway” and against modest opposition , should go all the way and make light of the 2 pound hit .
1/2pt win Gone @ 6/4
No Lingfield placepot
Selected Stratford – good to firm on this flat and sharp track
6.15 All of Romanor , Pawpaw and Begin The luck know where the winning line is , but all know on stiff looking marks . The front running Across The Line has responded very well to the big ease in the ratings with two good seconds and it should be 3rd time lucky .
1/2pt win Across The Line @ 6/4
7.50 A chance can be given to most of these , but the short priced fav , the hat-trick seeking Astroman has a bit to do with a penalty and dropping in trip . The in form trio of Scudamore , Lighthouse Mill and Baby Sham are closely matched on Fakenham form when Baby Sham came out on top and she ran well off a 2 pound higher mark than tonight last time . Looks way overpriced .
1/2pt ew Baby Sham @ 16/1
