Dark horse in the 2.25

Today’s multi

3 £1 doubles & £1 ew treble

Never Dark 2.25 @ 9/2

Professional Widow 4.10 @ 10/3

Al Simmo 4.02 @ 3/1

Selected Ayr- probably good ground on this flat and galloping track

2.25 It’s been a while since Never Dark last won , but as a consequence has dropped in the ratings and coms here on the back of an unlucky short head defeat at Donny , when getting it right at the start , tried to make all, but found a well handicapped one returning to form , out of the blue . He’s actually two pounds lower today , and races off an 8 pound lower mark than his last win , when making all for an easy win , but has won when having to come off the pace . In 6 runs in Class 5 his record is 2 wins and 4 places and has hit the frame twice in 4 tries here . He has been a bit hit and miss at the start of late , but if getting away on level terms , should be too good for these.

1/2pt  win Never Dark @ 9/2

3.00 PREMIUM RACE

3.35 The Crisford youngster Misty Dancer has run to a much higher mark than his rating today in her first handicap , and this isn’t a stiff examination .

1/2pt win Misty Dancer @ 7/4

4.10 This is very much there for the taking and a great opportunity for the back to form and down in grade Professional Widow .

1/2pt  win Professional Widow @ 10/3

4.45 Worth a dabble on the Crisford’s youngster Eshtora  , who has showed enough to land a race such as this off what looks a fair mark .

1/4pt win Eshtora  @ 10/1

5.20 Monhammer has held his form very well since breaking his duck at Musselburgh , off this trip and off a much lower mark . He was an unlucky loser at Carlisle last time , when given just a bit too much to do and from the best of the draw, good chance for compensation .

1/2pt  win Monhammer @ 5/1

Selected Yarmouth – good ground on this flat and galloping track

1.35 The consistent Lelabad may have to wait a bit longer before shedding his maiden tag as he was narrowly behind Queen’s Company over C&D last time and despite a pound better off , the tip was given a bit too much to do.

1/2pt win Queen’s Company @ 5/1

3.20 There are a trio of newcomers from big stables but they would need to be pretty well forward to get the better of Nammos , after her close 2nd at Ascot on debut recently .

1/2pt  win Nammos @ 7/4

3.55 The Gadget Man was the subject of a successful gamble at Chester last time , when staying power won the day , so the drop in tip won’t help , neither will the 7 pound hit and rise in grade . Boss Power and Valley Forge finished alongside each other at Glorious Goodwood at this trip, neither beaten far at all and at the odds ,the tip is preferred at juicy odds .

1/4pt win Boss Power @ 9/1

4.30 Oriole and Bellstreet Bride are young fillies on the up but at the odds, hard to ignore the chance of the reliable Rozalia , who has held her form very well despite climbing the ratings and returns to her best trip today .

1/2pt  ew Rozalia @ 10/1

5.05 This looks very much a match between the downgraded classy handicap sprinter and the ultra reliable Aphelious , 2 wins and 4 seconds in his last 6 , the latest 2nd a close call at York in a red hot field off this mark . Late and fast .

1/2pt win Aphelious @ 2/1

5.35 with plenty of early pace about , this will help the consistent late playing Nurseclaire , rarely far away , and off a declining mark, this could drop just right for her.

1/2pt  ew Nurseclaire @ 8/1

Selected Ponty – probably good ground on this stiff , undulating and galloping track

1.42 Despite the big field, hard getting excited about the prospects of many . I’m taking a chance with one of the worst drawn runners in the revitalised Dandy Spirit , who finally got back on the wining trail , thanks to plummeting in the handicap , with a win over C&D and backed that up with another win over C&D off just a 2 pound lower mark than today . In this race for apprentices , Johnny Peate will be aware of getting him out sharply and not impossible winning here from a hgh draw.

1/4pt  ew Dandy Spirit @ 12/1

3.27 Three last time winners here and a host of in form types , but the unexposed Arrange makes most appeal . In her first try at this trip , came from off the pace to win by a long looking 7 lengths and was then shoved up 10 pounds , but still ran well to be a close 3rd . This stiff C&D should suit well .

1/2pt  ew Arrange @ 6/1

4.02 Another Romance finally put it all together with a clear win at Salisbury , but the handicapper has slapped a 9 pound penalty upon her , so the double looks doubtful , despite being there for the taking . The C&D winner Al Simmo holds her form well despite now being on a stiff looking mark, and despite the wide draw, can be front rank throughout and stay strongly and willingly .

1/2pt  win  Al Simmo @ 3/1

4.37 The late playing Dereham is just 2 pound higher for a win at Newmarket last time and that puts this course winner in with a good shout of doubling up .

1/4p  win Dereham @ 11/2

5.40 Regal Mirage missed a year but did little wrong last time and this triple course winner can exploit a good mark .

Selected Chelmsford City – all weather – polytrack

7.00 The very reliable Ayr Harbour will again run his race and is effective over this C&D. Comes here on the back of two seconds off this mark and from a good draw , could nail a deserved win .

1/2pt win Ayr Harbour @ 5/1

7.30 A most winnable stayers handicap and a good opportunity for youngster Gordon’s Aura , after two good placed efforts off around this mark and this trip.

1/2pt  win Gordon’s Aura @ 11/4

8.30 Janus has held his form pretty well since returning from a lengthy lay-off . This is his best trip , 2 wins and 5 places from 9 tries ! and the 3 pound claimer aboard has a win and 2 places from just 4 tries when aboard . Nice longshot in an open heat .

1/4pt  ew  Janus @ 16/1

Selected Newcastle – all weather – tapeta . The track is stiff and galloping

5.45 PREMIUM RACE

6.15 PREMIUM RACE

6.45 The ultra reliable Galliac is a cracking young racehorse , but had to give best to another admirably consistent type in Menai Bridge over C&D last time . He’s up 2 pounds but his rival up 4 so should have revenge . Both Bringitonboris and Double dealing were 3rd and 4th in that race , and despite having the weights in their favour , neither are known for nailing their race .

1/2pt  win Galliac @ 5/1

7.15 PREMIUM RACE

8.15 Boogie Time hasn’t hit the heights of last season ,when landing a hat-trick and running many a big race off testing marks. He has served notice that he’s capable of landing a win off this declining mark , especially of late, and last year was a close 2nd over C&D off around this mark . Very lively longshot .

1/2pt  ew  Boogie Time @ 33/1

8.45 Faustus has a terrific record here , a win and 3 places from just 4 tries . He’s up 2 pounds for a short head defeat over C&D last time, but that still keeps him well in the picture and his determination counts for plenty .

1/2pt  ew  Faustus @ 12/1
