Selected Hereford – soft ground on this flat and sharp track
1.10 Very few have a serious chance in this and even the consistent Gaelic Thunder can be ruled out on today’s soft ground . Valirann Gold made all to win easily at Chepstow last time out in higher grade and the 5 pound hit could have been worse . With a lack of early pace in the contest he should have his way up front again, but that was a shock win last time , and you just wonder if he can be in the same kind of form again . This is a more benign track and has struggled going right handed before . Greenrock Abbey toughed it out to beat School For Scandal over C&D on soft ground a few starts back and ran respectably to be 3rd last time in a Ffos Las bog . School for Scandal could have his measure on today’s terms , but has run badly since and not really a soft ground performer . Expect a prominent ride aboard the tip and can overcome a 5 pound higher mark .
1/2pt win Greenrock Abbey @ 5/2
1.40 Landing Theatre is a cracking mare 4 wins and 3 seconds in 10 races under rules and comes here on the back of another good effort when 2nd of 14 , off around this mark and trip . She races usually on good ground , but has run well on good to soft and also ran well in a point on heavy ground , and is certainly worth a try in a winnable looking heat . The short priced fav is recent Uttoxeter winner Missed Tee, and this ex – pointer should relish this longer trip and softer ground.
1/4pt win Landing Theatre @ 4/1
2.10 The three form horses : Obsessedwithyou , Sailing Grace and Jaminska are all front runners and none proven on ground this deep , but as the latter is receiving the allowances and does keep on well , gets the vote ahead of odds on fav Obsessedwithyou
1/4pt win Jaminska @ 9/4
2.40 Only three go and all are capable on their best form but all three come here on the back of disappointing efforts . Easy race to swerve .
3.10 Not a deep race . Supasunrise will find the soft ground and the 6 pound hit very difficult to overcome , while Magnificent Ben was 2nd in a weak heat last time , is 4 pounds higher and continues to be hard to win with . Kingcormac has run two very big races since returning from a lengthy absence and going handicap chasing . He was given plenty to do at Ludlow, but came home with a wet sail to be 3rd and ran well again last time in the Exeter mud to be 2nd . He’s on around the same mark and with a good pace likely , good chance of running these down late on .
1/2pt win Kingcormac @ 3/1
4.10 The front running Zestful Hope is 2 from 2 around here but a combination of a stiff mark and other front runners in the field , makes things tougher . Ballycamus was successful last season over C&D in the mud off a 4 pound lower mark , but won clearly by 4 lengths . He recently resumed duties with an encouraging effort at Ludlow, when only weakening out of it late on . He probably needed the run and was ridden by an inexperienced jockey that day . He has a good race make up for one which stalks strong pace .
1/2pt win Ballycamus @ 5/1
Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta
6.00 Impossible to knock the prolific Barenboim who has made giant strides since joining David O’Meara and yet another win could be on , but the bookies agree making him a short priced fav , but is up a further 5 pounds , sharply up in grade and also half a mile in trip , but besides that , remains unexposed . Protected Guest disappointed last time at Lingfield when having a good ew chance but he has a good record on this surface , stays this trip and remains on a workable mark .
1/4pt win Protected Guest @ 11/2
7.00 The luckless Hit Mac has been 2nd 6 times in his 9 runs and went down a short head last time off this mark , but the winner did nothing for the form next time when on the same mark and conditions suited , so makes little appeal at short odds. Astrophysics is an admirable low grade handicapper . 2 wins and never out of the first 3 in his last 10 starts , but is now on a stiff mark and the drop in trip won’t help . Griggy is another reliable sort who did well over C&D two starts back when 3rd and the 2 horse has won twice since . He’s another better over an extra furlong but is well drawn to attack early . He is though missing his usual blinkers , so just a dabble .
1/4pt ew Griggy @ 7/1
7.30 The trip is the issue for the threatening Toopham while the downgraded Roscioli is a hold up type very hard to win with . Course specialist Hector’s Here bounced back to form , with no warning , with a win at Newcastle , and the double is unlikely off a 6 pound higher mark. Aryaah won twice on quick turf last Summer and ran well to be 3rd over C&D on his comeback spin when ridden by an inexperienced jockey . He can be excused a lesser effort next time when a ,longer trip was tried . His mark is testing enough but still looks a good ew play . Both Carachristi and Johnny Boom are very consistent , both come off the back of C&D wins but both penalised in the ratings and up in grade .
1/2pt ew Aryaah @ 7/1
