2.20 Looks very much a match and despite making a right meal of shedding her maiden tag , the consistent Soi Dao comes here on her usual good form . The extra furlong is no issue and preferred over Saorla , runner up the last twice , but both times on the all weather , not been out for 5 months , and drops in trip .

3.30 Gilt Edge has a terrific record here , 3 wins and a place in 4 tries and has dropped 3 pounds below her last winning mark , and furthermore a competent 7 pound claimer takes the reins , and back to her best trip today , but recent runs don’t suggest she is a winner about to happen . Vape is cracking little racehorse, guaranteed to run his race from the front and keep going willingly , and has been unlucky not to have added to his Windsor win earlier in the season . He does look in the handicapper’s grip, but not by much and as he’s likely to have the lead to himself , this could be his day . The fav is the back to form hat-trick seeking Dora Penny , who was rated higher last season but a 6 pound hit in the context of this race will take some overcoming .

It’s unlikely that recent good Leicester 2nd Ellie Piper will be as potent down in trip while the capable front running Thegreyvtrain has a very poor recent win record . Preference is for youngster Notre Maison , , whose 2nd of 14 at Windsor on quick ground at this trip in a handicap , is the best form on show .Expect a prominent ride , and sees the trip out well.

6.40 Nobody could gripe if the consistent yet luckless They Don’t Know finally broke his duck , 2nd 6 times in 10 starts , the latest being a neck short at Kempton . He’s a late player who comes home strongly and the extra yardage no issue .

He has since run two poor races on turf , but has bounced back from below his best before when returning to this his favourite C&D and from a good draw has strong claims in a race looking pretty much for the taking . There’s plenty of early pace on which suits his style of running , stalking a strong gallop .

7.40 There are a trio of already successful ,lightly raced and progressive runners in this and all of Purple Ribbon , Neandra and Storm Castle merit careful consideration. Purple Ribbon returns from a 10 months break and has a poor draw , but still can’t be ruled out . Storm Castle made all at Chelmsford City last time winning his maiden, and is competitively weighted on that performance , but may not have the lead to himself tonight and also has stamina to prove. Neandara made a mockery of his opening handicap mark over C&D recently , giving them a start and a thrashing , and every chance she’ll be up to the 8 pound hit . I’m kind of sitting on the fence here being with the ultra reliable Old port , a winner of 5 of his 8 handicaps , and comes here on the back of a cosy win on turf but has won on this surface and is 2 from 2 at this trip .
