Today’s Multi – great returns on the onsite multi for the past 5 days . Plenty of 2 from 3. Here’s hoping these three can maintain the run , at good odds.
50p ew Trixie & 50p ew treble
Mehmento 2.05 @ 12/1
Cruyff Turn 3,45 @ 12/1
Enrilo 3.32 @ 4/1
Selected Haydock – good ground on this flat and galloping track .
1.30 PREMIUM RACE
2.05 Many of these would prefer easier ground and the prolific Alrehb can only be watched having his first ever run on turf despite being 2 from 2 at this trip and only a pound higher than his last good win . Not much early pace in this which draws me towards the Classy handicapper Mehmento , who likes to dominate and is a tough nut to crack . Not well drawn but should be well able to obtain his preferred sit at the head of affairs and only a pound higher than his last handicap winner .
½ pt ew Mehmento @12/1
2.40 Not a deep maiden and the bookies make the once raced Nashwa an odds on fav but as Consensus De Vega is proven on the ground and brings stronger form to the table , has to be the play .
¼ p t win Consensus De Vega @ 5/1
3.15 Stella Queen ended the season with two good runs , both on this kind of ground and trip , and goes handicapping on a very fair mark, and I would have been more interested if she didn’t have the worst of the draw.
¼ pt ew Stella Queen @ 10/1
3.45 The prolific KIngmania has stamina to prove while Darkness and Brentford Hope are far more potent on softer ground . The in form Baldomero has a bit to prove back on turf so I’m with one of the longshots in the progressive Cruyff Turn . He hardly put a hoof wrong last year and ran well on his first outing last season and went on to win 4 times from just 9 races , the pick being a long priced win , when The Racehorsetipster tipped him up at 25/1 , beating a big field in a red hot Class 2 handicap at York . He’s 3 pounds higher , but ran well enough in his final two races last year , off this mark , to suggest , he’s not handicapped out of things . He’s tactically versatile but with not a great deal of early pace in the contest , is likely to be handy from a good draw, and we know he’s hard to get the better of in the finish . I’d be chunks more confident of it wasn’t for the poor form of trainer Tim Easterby, who’s had a stack of runners , with very little success , but still hard to ignore .
½ pt ew Cruyff Turn @12/1
Selected Leicester – good to firm on this stiff and galloping track
2.10 Well worth a little dabble in Godolphin’s Deciduous who after landing a Wolver maiden with ease on debut ran well to be 5th at Kempton in quite a competitive maiden , just behind Salvator Mundi and 10 pounds better off. No reason why he wont act on quick turf .
¼ pt win Deciduous @ 6/1
2.45 Only 3 go and the are closely matched at the ratings but as Path Of Thunder looks to be on now a stiff looking mark and is better over an extra furlong , the consistent but of late hard to win with Happy Power could well get his own way up front and have a bit too much for the mightily prolific and progressive Aratus . The tip comes here on the back of a good 2nd at Wolver , running to his mark and the ground and this stiff C&D will suit .
½ pt win Happy Power @ 2/1
3.20 The C&d winner Dancinginthewoods is rarely far away and this late player comes here on the back of a close 4th at Newmarket but today is ridden by Richard Kingscote , who has a shocking record here so trying the back to form Jack Point ,who’s now running far better down to this trip and for his new stable . Could well surprise .
¼ pt ew Jack Point @ 16/1
4.26 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Ripon- good ground on this undulating and sharp track
2.20 Dual C&d winner Hortzadar is back In n top form , but cruelly up 2 pounds for a close 4th last time . That makes this late player’s task of course all the tougher today but the likely strong pace cut out by the prolific but now poorly handicapped Garden Oasis will set this up nicely for him and taken to edge out the consistent pair of Copper and Five and A Boy Named Ivy .
¼ pt win Hotrzadar @ 7/2
2.55 The ex-French Get Shirty was a good winner in the Thirsk mud but today’s better ground and longer trip are both In his favour and could overcome the 3 pound hit . The prolific pair of Haizoom and Ravenscraig Castle are still hard to rule out despite both now being on stiff marks .
¼ pt win Get Shirty @ 7/2
4.00 PREMIUM RACE
Selected Sandown – good to firm on this stiff and galloping track
A Stellar Card for the traditional final curtain of what has been another terrific season of National Hunt Racing
1.50 Plenty of prolific and progressive youngsters in this but hard getting away from the 4 timer seeking Head Law , who is 2 from 2 in handicaps and was particularly impressive at Southwell last time beating a most reliable yardstick with any amount in hand . Up 10 pounds and switches to a stayer’s track, but the strong pace will help this late player and could still be ahead of the game .
½ pt win Head Law @7/2
2.25 Mister Fisher was only narrowly denied in this contest last year on similar ground by the very useful Frodon and compensation awaits .
½ pt win Mister Fisher @ 7/4
3.00 Greanteen won this last year , lowering the colours of the legendary Altior and despite his form being a little in and out this season , is still the likely winner , but I can pass at 5/4.
3.32 The very valuable Bet365 chase and the king of the staying Chases , Christian Williams runs 3, arguably the most improved stayer in training , Win My wings , who comes here on a 4 timer and his last two wins have been pretty easy landing the Eider Chase and then The Scottish Grand National . He’s up a hefty stone and you would think this is a race too many , but still hard to rule out . Williams also runs Kitty’s Light , an excellent 2nd in the Scottish Grand National , and was 3rd in this last year , in a bob of heads between him , Potterman and Enrilo , and the latter courageously got up close home, but harshly lost the race in The Stewards Room but renews rivalry on far better terms and a deserved win can come his way . Just a pound higher than last year and his programme suggests strongly this has been his season’s target .
½ pt win Enrilo @ 4/1
4.07 A chance can certainly be given to all four but the mare Indefatigable was running a mighty race at The Cheltenham Festival when taking a last flight fall and a deserved win very possible on these terms .
¼ pt win Indefatigable @ 7/2
4.40 The front running Brief Ambition is a real win machine, 6 from 13 and this includes 3 from 3 over fences . The ground is very much in his favour and only recently returned from a break with a very smart win on his preferred good ground . He likes to dominate , and a few others here will have the same idea , but has also showed he can kick off a strong pace and could make light of the 6 pound hit .
½ pt win Brief Ambition @ 7/2
5.15 A fiercely competitive handicap hurdle for the finale and a case can be made for many . Glynn tuns for Nicky Henderson , and connections have kept the faith as he rarely sees the racetrack and when last seen was 10 months ago when a good 2nd on good ground at this trip at Hexham The best time to catch long time absentees is first race back and looks a nice longshot .
¼ pt ew Glynn @ 10/1
Selected Donny- good to firm on this flat and galloping track
7.05 Looks very much a match and as the prolific Strawman is likely to need the outing , recent C&D winner Matchless should be doubling up as he’s unexposed as a turf middle distance horse and could be up to the 5 pound hit but 6/4 plenty short enough .
7.35 Another uncompetitive heat and the drying ground wont be any help at all to the hard to win with , but never far away Gustav Holst .Emeraty Hero returned from a long absence last year , winning twice , was then an unlucky 2nd and ended the season with a much lesser run, but as all runs came in a short space of time , it was just probably one race too many . He returns after another lengthy absence and likely to be fit and ready to go , loves fast ground and remains on a workable mark.
½ pt win Emeraty Hero @ 5/2
Selected Wolver – all weather – tapeta
5.45 A very modest handicap and the one to beat , despite the worst of the draw, and also over a trip short enough is the downgraded Local Bay , who ran well here last time on his first start for Tony Carroll and should be too good for these .
¼ pt win Local Bay @ 5/2
6.50 PREMIUM RACE
8.50 The odds on fav is the hat-trick seeking Prydwen who is 2 from 2 in handicaps and still looks ahead of the game .He’s new to tapeta so despite the 4 pound hit looking manageable , at the odds, the outsider Harbour Vision , as usual has been running his race of late , including over C&D . He hasn’t won for almost 2 years but entitled to be close up .
¼ pt ew Harbour Vision @ 16/1
